Around 56-58 F. So a bit of range loss from weather but nothing too severe. Maybe 10%? Possibly more.

This would equate to around 315 in a 4 on 20s IMO. Maybe 330 in ideal weather. Price of a smaller sized vehicle, only 95 kWh usable on an SUV hurts.

For reference he got 339 miles in an iX M60 (in ideal temperatures) on the same test. 3.23 for the iX vs 3.09 for the Macan mi/kWh, although the iX did have more ideal conditions so the efficiency is probably very similar all things equal.

Moral of the story is you wish they could have shoved in more usable kWhs. The efficiency seems fine, but that smaller battery limits things.

Well my efficiency of the Macan on 20 inch is for the moment 10% less than the iX on 22 inch wheels … Maybe the tires are also a contributing factor, seems the Bridgestones are far from efficient …

When Kyle did his analysis of factor impeding its reaching 300 miles range, clearly some factors he mentioned were of overriding importance, e.g., being a turbo and having 22” tires. On the contrary, he mentioned the roof rails and said the engineers said ”no consequence.’ But what about the air flow over the top, down the rear window, hitting the windshield wiper for those that have one (as the tested car did). Doubt other than Porsche engineers with their computer and wind tunneling modeling/analysis know the answer to this, but any thoughts as to how many miles range lost with a wiper.

Having that rear wiper is critical to many, but we EV owners seems to keep circling back to range numbers on forums even though again for many of us, range is just about meaningless other than road trips. My wife and I drive less than many in our EV (working from home), but there are days upon days that we return to our garage and we do not hook it up to our Level 2. That is quite different behavior than the first few months we owned our first EV when we were plugging it in almost every time we came home. Even our friends with EV’s that commute daily to work are mostly settled in to their charging theirs only every second or third day.

We are glad to have and we use our rear wiper on our iX.

temperature, topography, speed, wheel size, tires are going to be a much bigger factor in any range 'adjustment' from ideal vs. aero loads from various external accessories IMHO…

the same test in 65-72F temps might be illuminating

also 20" wheels, total miles on the Macan might also be a factor in terms of: regeneration and how stiff the tires are…

what did Taycan do on this range test?

In Europe Kyle on a 2025, 4S with aero 21” wheels, but with a GTS version we do not get not in the US, got 311 miles.

Going on long road trip this week. Wifes birthday trip to drum store for some new adds to kit. Also switching summer 21s with winter 20s. Interested to see how milage does. I'll tag this thread if I see any interesting results.

For reference in 45ish degree wind and rain today my R1S Max got 1.88 mi/kWh or about 250 total range. An EPA 410mi vehicle.

Vancouver to Seattle.

Weather hurts.

Oof. That is terrible!! I think my R1S stays around 2.1-2.2, which is still pretty bad.

I have a Tri-max available on 11/19 and will find out if my Macan 4 ships or delays again later this week, but was really leaning toward the Gen 2 R1 for better efficiency. Your results ar enot promising.

Kyle got 368 miles on the new RWD Taycan sedan in the last week with its most efficient 19” wheels.

Weather was also better for the Taycan test. 56 at night for Macan vs 71 in the day for Taycan. That could account for 10-15% easily.

As @daveo4EV said, I’m OK with 290 miles, more during summer, less during winter.
4 hours in a row is too much for me, I'm not capable of driving safely for that length of time. 2-3 hours is perfect.
The thing that matters is the fast charge capability.

For me I'd like 300+. It checks the box for being able to get to and back from a lot of areas in the PNW. Not really about 4 hours of driving but 2 to 2.5 one way than another 2 or 2.5 back.

Being able to get to and from the ski resorts without fighting for a charging spot is pretty clutch, for example. Vancouver to Seattle is another. Seattle currently is having most of it's EA chargers vandalized (they cut off the charging cords for the copper) and the working ones often suck, so being able to go Van to Sea and Sea to Van without charging is very useful.

At the moment 4 out of 5 of the main Seattle EA locations (Ballard, Queen Anne, Uvillage, Georgetown) have all had their plugs cut and are inoperable. Situations like this is when more range really helps.

Also 280 miles of range is really only 210ish most of the time, since you'd really like to charge above 5% and stop at 80%.
