You may not like one pedal driving but this is just not true and is a myth often circulated by critics or competitors.
Tesla didn’t use one-pedal driving because it “couldn’t” do blended braking. It chose a different regen philosophy that prioritized energy efficiency and a unique driving...
I have both right now with Rivian and Macan and I prefer the one pedal.
on long trips I just use innodrive so not touching the accelerator anyway.
but really the answer is to allow both via a setting. I appreciate Porsche declaring you will drive how we say you drive. But with EV motors you...
> Most of our Macan EV cars are made by Porsche in Slovakia
im pretty sure this is not true of the macan ev
ive only heard it about the upcoming cayenne EV
> I don't get this one pedal driving thing
i think it is the type of thing that is hard to imagine until you use for a while and then...
Here is a conclusion to the discussion for those following along or want to skip to the final answer.
No, creep does not need to be baked into EVs—and arguably, it shouldn’t be by default. Here’s why:
1. EVs Have Precise Control
Electric motors provide instant and precise torque control...
Innodrive for long trips is game changer and totally worth it.
Speed ding dings can be set on or off
with innodrive you don’t really need them anyway.
hope they continue to develop. The full on self driving Tesla has is interesting and useful to some.
but i find the lane following on...
So people can hear the “safety” sound outside but not the sports sound?
which is almost good because I like the sports sound to myself but don’t want to have people outside hear it and either bother them or know I’m zipping around in a sport mode.
No one can make an argument that releasing the brake and motor automatically accelerates is somehow safe.
It is factual that EV motors naturally work without creep just like manuals because it needs to be added artificially only to please ice drivers.
The history of creep is in engineering...
Thanks for the discussion. It had been interesting to try to convey on how if you have driven for many years without it and have it come back it makes no sense and feels super weird and unsafe and think Porsche should add the option for those folks who are coming from pure EV cars like Tesla...
It’s pretty much the best sounding “sport sound” I’ve heard on an EV
it is super fun in sport mode
regular driving better off
so it is a nice fun to have but won’t miss it
If you were inventing a car today, would you ever have "car accelerates when accelerator is not pressed" as an acceptable design?
The answer is of course not.
I’m sorry but creep is artifact of ICE engine engineering that will eventually go away.
And Porsche should definitely have an option...
