The dealer I went to has never heard of this problem. I showed them this forum but I am guessing everyone will need to report it to their Toyota for an official bulletin to be generated. As of now my case is a “one off” at this current dealer. They sent it up the chain on their end and I’ll report back the final decision in a few days.

I finally took my off.. 2 of the screws on the driver side were missing or lost and the ones on the passenger side were really loose, I was able remove them by hand. It's still salvageable, one of the plastic hole were broken.

Anyone else have a problem with the 2025 front lower valance or air dam disconnecting. We did not hit anything, randomly started making noise while driving freeway speeds, we then pulled over and found it like this on both sides.

Yes. We had same with ours yesterday. 289 miles. Had to zip tie it for now but agree may just look better without it. Does anyone know a reason it must stay on?

You would only keep it to maintain or to achieve advertised fuel mileage
Drop it, improve the look and don’t worry about a buck or two more at the pumps.

Our dealer replaced one missing bolt on Wednesday. No idea if it was missing from the factory or came loose, but it was gone by 150 miles. All others were tight.

I reached out to my dealership. They’re ordering me a new one. Looks like mine scraped against my tire/the road. Planning on taking it off but I’d prefer to have a brand new one hanging out in the garage vs the slightly scuffed one

Toyota is replacing my damaged air dam, not sure if they’ll make it a service bulletin for all new models.

Happened to me too traveling about 70-75 on the interstate with less than 1,000 miles, Took it to the dealer who told me I must have ran over something because they e never heard of this part failing. I tried to show him this site but they refused to look. 🙄

The very same thing happened to me when I purchased my new 4R6G last month (April 2025). Neither my wife nor I ever noticed the front lower air dam/ valance hanging down when we made the deal to buy the vehicle. We both must of walked around the car 2 or 3 times each, but never noticed the air dam hanging out in the breeze. Our new 4Runner had 8 miles on the odometer when we took possession of it. Twelve miles later, when we arrived at home, I immediately noticed it when we got out of the vehicle in our garage.

The two outermost screws on the driver side and the second screw in from the end on the passenger side were missing. The outermost screw on the passenger side was screwed in about half way. All the five inner screws were tight.

My theory is that the someone, either in Japan, in California, on the train ride from California to your dealership’s home-state distributor, or the semi car hauler making the delivery to the selling dealership, is monkeying around with the outer edges of the front air dam to get maximum tie-down-strap clearance so as to not damage it when the car is tied down for shipment. In any case, someone is removing the screws and NOT putting them back!

Now, the million dollar question is, “Why hasn’t the selling dealership’s people caught these missing screws during the new vehicle check-in inspection?” There is a checklist to go by to visually look for anything ’hanging, dripping or dragging.’

I first thought that, maybe, the complete air dam was removed to secure it from shipping damage, but nobody on this web site (4Runner6G), including me, has posted anything about any of the five middle screws being loose. So, I don’t think the air dam was ever removed, post vehicle assembly.

Attached is an image of the bag that I received from my dealership’s parts department containing four new replacement screws for the lower air dam/ valance. I explained to the parts department people why I need three new screws free of charge. Several people then quickly approached me about my predicament. A few minutes later a sealed Toyota parts bag containing 10 new screws was opened in front of me, followed by the removal of six screws, then the bag with 4 screws, one more than I asked for, was given to me with an apology for my troubles.

My dealer is Pat Lobb Toyota of McKinney, TX (Toyota of McKinney).

Happened to me. Service manager accused me of removing screws. I said its a manufacturer defect but they didn't listen. I found this forum and screenshot all complaints and sent it to the dealership. I was traumatized having to ride around with tape on my 2025 less than a week old. They still didn't own anything but will replace it. Thanks to this forum.

I looked at mine this afternoon, and after 2 weeks and 4500 miles, I'm missing one screw on each end.
