The “ones down in Texas” are likely just aftermarket covers, not factory Softex.Hey guys,
Before you pre-order your 4runner make sure you know what regional version of soft-tex seats you are getting. The ones up in the NorthEast are the soft feeling black digital camo type you see on the Toyota site and in most review videos. The ones down in Texas are totally different. They look and feel like perforated leather with yellow/gold contrast stitching. Someone post pics of each so people can see the difference. No one wants to put a deposit and have something they don't like arrive and be stuck with, or less their deposit and have to start their search again
Perhaps this is what you saw in the dealership? I believe there are only 3 interior options. Cloth on the low end, Soft tex on most the others and I think leather on the Limited. The “ones down in Texas” are likely just aftermarket covers, not factory Softex.
I would recommend reviewing the .pdf atI know there’s a difference in the Tacoma soft Tex (assembled in Mexico) and the 4Runner soft Tex (assembled in Japan). But I wasn’t aware of two different soft Tex within the Japan built 4Runners. Are we sure about this or is the confusion Tacoma vs 4Runner?
