A note about the Thermally and Noise Insulated Glass: it is stronger, thinner, and lighter than standard glass. The three plastic layers between two sheets of glass replace the weight of glass and are slightly thinner and lighter than the glass they replace. They also make the composite stronger...
We have Carbon-Fiber blades on our 2015 Macan Turbo ( factory delivery in Leipzig May 2014). Years later, one had to be removed to paint a door - the body shop had us sign a release if it failed. The CF blades apparently crack or break easily.
When the car is clean, Satin Black on the wheels will never look as clean or sharp as Gloss Black. When the car is dirty, both blacks on the wheels look dirty!
No, but first one over 2,000 miles. We have made many EV trips to challenging eastern Oregon and Washington via back roads. Longest trip so far has been PDX to LAX and back via coast and I-5. Santa Barbara, Sonoma, and Napa have been multiple runs from Portland.
Suggestions?
Our 2012 Cayman S Black Edition (a Cayman R in street clothes) has gloss black everywhere outside, with the exception of a thin polished aluminum sidewall on the rim. It is standard black, buffed to remove orange peel, and glass (ceramic) coated everywhere, including the wheels. She still turns...
Our Macan Turbo Electric arrived at Jacksonville Port on August 10, 2024, and completed the "Quality action" clearance by August 12, 2024. Like many others in the US, it is set to leave the port for delivery to the dealer (PECATL) on September 17, 2024. The drive from Jacksonville, Florida to...
Dave,
Sorry that InnoDrive does not work for you. It is critical to turn off speed-limit monitoring to avoid most of the problems you described. With speed-limit monitoring off, the hiccups we see are caused by locally provided digital data, typically at a handoff from one jurisdiction or...
Agree with you on steering - as soon as ALK is turned on, my wife asks what's wrong with the car. It is not graceful nor looks far enough ahead to be graceful.
However, InnoDrive does a great job braking and recognizes curves, intersections, blind spots, and stop signs (but will not stop - just...
We have had navigation in four Porsche vehicles since 2011 (2012 Cayman S Black Edition to 2020 Taycan TS). All have altitude in the PCM NAV - even the 2016 GT4.
Not a bug. The sound and thermal glass is actually thinner, lighter, and stronger than standard glass - the multiple layers of plastic in the middle make it so. The wiper mounting probably needs the thicker standard glass, but that is just conjecture.
Our turbo is on the Siem Confucious outside of Jacksonville dodging storm DEBBY. ETA was tomorrow morning 6 AUG, but the cars in port may be floating! :(
There is certainly an element of truth to your thoughts, but there are some advantages of the RWD:
Lighter weight, ~250lbs
Greater range
Higher top speed (by 1 mph :))
More nimble handling
Rear engine weight has surprising snow and ice traction going uphill (I use to go amazing places in snow...
