  1. Cayenne EV

This is a Macan forum, but several people are thinking about the Cayenne EV. I had a chance to see it today (no chance to drive it), and will post some pictures and brief observations. Obviously, the Cayenne is larger than the Macan. I think this is the key difference between the two. Yes...
  2. Wall Street Journal Article on German auto industry

A May 20 WSJ article indicates Germany has lost 100,000 auto jobs since 2019 and is expected to lose another 125,000 by 2035. Part of this is due to the move to EV’s which are simpler to build, but most of the losses are due to an “uncompetitive business environment:” high taxes and levies...
  3. Apple CarPlay Spotty?

Just FYI. My wife was having CarPlay spotty connection issues on her iPhone 15. I have had no issues with my 17 Pro connection. AI said it was due to temperamental tech in the older 15. Replaced her phone with a 17 Pro and now zero issues. Sometimes AI is right. Sometimes it’s not the...
  4. 2025 Macan Charging Deep Dive

    https://evchargingstations.com/chargingnews/porsche-macan-electric-charging-analysis/?utm_source=x&utm_medium=social&utm_id=referral A charging deep dive.
  5. Which Car Brands Are Best

This is one, informed opinion. JD Power also just came out with their 2026 (somewhat different) brand reliability rankings. And Consumer Reports has yet a different ranking of brands. Two common threads in all these: (1) the first year, or two, of a new model of any brand will be more...
  6. Changing Data Display To Miles/kWh

This has been driving me crazy. My Macan displayed efficiency in units of kWh/100 miles. I don’t like this for two reasons. First, generally larger numbers are associated with better (higher) performance. Not so with kWh/miles (lower is better). Second, I can’t really use the kWh/miles...
  7. Charging Question

Today was my first day of paid Electrify America charging, after the expiration of my one year free plan. I started charging at 16% and, after reaching 75%, the photo shows I am being charged for consuming 108.48 kWh. Under the free plan, I don’t recall seeing this level of consumption, ever...
  8. Opening the Power Charge Port Door

Just a quick observation, something that might reduce stress. Occasionally I have found that the powered charge port door won’t open when I place my hand on the rear of the door. Sometimes, it is because I forgot to unlock the car. That’s easy to observe and unlock, and not the issue here...
  9. “Hey, Porsche”

I am wondering what the range of voice commands is. This first list below is the example commands from the voice pilot help menu in the vehicle (settings, Porsche Voice Pilot, Help - upper right corner). The other lists below are others I found. Some of these are not useful because it often...
  10. Porsche Pulls The Plug On EV’s

I just saw this YouTube video:
  11. Insane power and torque from new motor design by Orbis Electric

  12. How to ensure you scrape your front splitter

Previously I posted that I’d scraped my front splitter while trurning into a parking lot. I also mentioned that I had never scraped the nose on my 2011 Cayman S over 13 years. I’ve now scraped the Macan three times in eight months. I finally figured out how to do it reliably (well, OK, why it...
  13. Trip to Telluride, Colorado

Here are some thoughts after my first long trip in the Macan. Route: from Prescott, AZ to Telluride, Colorado, 472 miles. First 134 miles was on rural, mountain and high desert highways. Next 127 miles was on US interstate. Final 211 miles was again on mountain and high desert highways. I...
  14. Reference Tire Pressure Settings

Shown below is my tire pressure data on a recent trip. When one adds or subtracts the current pressure and the difference from the target/reference, the resulting reference pressure for each wheel is different. So for the left front 39 + 3 = 42 target or reference. It’s different for each...
  15. Terrific Charging Session: 283 kW charging yesterday

Got 283 kW charging yesterday @32% and still delivering 144 @ 72%. Yet, the battery temp got to 133 F. Asking AI, I found that degradation is accelerated when the temp is that high. Fortunately I don’t use fast chargers that often. In the future, I will monitor the temp more closely.
  16. Tariffs Made Me Do It

I soon will own two Macan 4’s. I took delivery of #1 last December and became a two EV household, owning for two years a 2023 Audi E-Tron as well. Later this year or next, I had planned to buy a 2026 Cayenne EV to replace the Audi, which has poor range of about 200 miles and buggy software...
  17. Many Unsold New / Used Macan EV’s Listed on Porsche Site

I went to the Porsche US site to check out new and used prices on the Macan EV inventory. I was shocked to see the number of vehicles listed there. I even recognized a couple of vehicles in dealer inventories that were there several months ago when I previously looked. It also surprised me...
  18. Wall Street Journal Article on Porsche

WSJ had an article on Porsche. Two news items in the aticle: Porsche pushed a lot of cars to the US ahead of the tariffs (delaers had accepted 37% more cars this year vs last, with additional inventory still at the ports), and “the company told analysts only that it would honor prices for...
  19. A Possible Reason the Cayenne EV Moved Ahead of the 983 Boxster Cayman

Until recently, the sequence of design for Porsche EV’s was Macan, then the 983, and then the Cayenne. Then Porsche announced that the next model released would not be the 983, but the Cayenne EV. It would be interesting to hear from Porsche why they made this change, but here’s one...
  20. Most Reviews Are Biased and “Noisy”

In the book, Noise, Nobel Laureate Daniel Kahneman discusses how most judgements exceedingly are fraught with error. We as humans are exceptionally prone to any number of factors that hinder good judgement. For example, in one study criminal judges looking at identical case files varied their...
