Unfortunately it isn't an option to try using the PMC at my house because my charger is hard wired and there isn't a viable plug in the garage to use it with. Basically means I have to plan on resetting the breaker after each charging session so the Span Drive will reboot.
Year and Model: 2025 Macan 4S
Your Location: Nevada
Charger at Home: Span Drive
Charging Port: Drive Side
Timeline: Didn't actually stop working, but not it occasionally causes a fault with the Span Drive when the car hits the charge target since the 28.13 software update.
Troubleshooting Steps...
Yep, those became legal in the US a couple of years ago, but the standard is different from the Euro requirements. Tesla and Rivian have implemented the US standard here, but none of the Europeans have because it's a big change.
The power reserve on the phone only powers the NFC capabilities (UWB uses too much power), so only having UWB would mean that if your phone's battery gets too low and it shuts off, instead of still being able to use it as a key for 4-5 hours, you'd be stuck.
What kind of problems did you have with the iX? In all the times I handled the NFC card to the valet, there where never any problems except when they put the card in the wrong spot (sometimes they would put it in the passthrough slot at the top of the console, which of course wouldn't work).
I've found it slow to warm up, but it does eventually get warm enough (even when I have the vents blowing cold air from outside). Current temps outside are in the high 20F range.
They might go more traditional on the outside, but the inside the iX3 is their new design language, especially the HUD bar across the entire dash. They've been touting it since the auto show a few years ago when they introduced the concept.
Out of curiosity, which manufacturers are using UWB only? I want to make sure I don't buy one of them in the future, since UWB takes too much power and can't operate in a passive/wireless power harvesting fashion (which is why Power Reserve mode on the iPhone only supports NFC).
But you are...
I believe that shows the driver's seat is occupied and the belt is fastened, the passenger seat is occupied and unfastened, and the 3 rear seats are empty.
I actually wanted to, but couldn't get my phone out and ready fast enough after pulling into the parking lot. The cluster display shutdown so quickly after that that I couldn't get it.
Update: Got the car back this morning. As expected, no fault codes found and they couldn't replicate the problem. They did do the 3 open recalls on it (none of them software related). So looks like I just have to hope it doesn't happen again.
Yelp, it happened to me.
Today we went for a nice drive just to see the leaves changing colors. After stoping for lunch, when we got back in the car the infotainment was extremely slow to boot (3-4x the normal time). Thinking it just did some kind of AAOS update or something, we went on with...
If it cut in half from what you normally see, I'd guess that one of the 2 lines to the EVSE is cut off. That can happen if a double pole breaker half-trips (only 1 of the 2 sides of it trip). It isn't supposed to happen, but it occasionally can. Reset the breaker to make sure if isn't that.
Are you sure nothing is pressing the button on the fob? There's so little of a ridge around it that it's really easy for other items (or other keys) in the pocket to press against it when getting in and out (it's happened to me 3 times in the time I've had the car). It's one of my biggest...
I'll agree with unlikely, but not impossible. If they wanted to Porsche could setup the AAOS system so it acts as if it was PIWIS, and then once AAOS is updated, it could then in turn update each of the components. It could also be setup to use the built-in LTE connection to to authorize and...
My 2022 BMW iX had remote parking and parking path memory added a year after release. Those features weren't on the sticker and didn't exist for the iX at release, but instead were added OTA as a purchasable option when they made them a build time option for the 2023.
