This has got to be the most cynical thread in the forum Iāve seen thus farā¦ all good when viewed in that lens - but a couple of posts had me worried at first (especially from @daveo4EV š)
+1 - weāve all been holding our breath on this (and other CarPlay features) since discussion last year.
Letās hope this feature does get rolled out to all Macan EVs (including those already delivered) and doesnāt turn out to be an additional hardware dependant or ā2026+ Model buildā only type...
If you havenāt found already - Would assume activating on the seatbelt āhugā (part of Proactive Occupant Protection) is the opposite of turning it off.
From further down the manual that @cottony screenshot:
Thanks for the post @daveo4EVā¦ I tend to agree with your sentiments/comments.
Funnily, it seems a common-place practice to tell customers this (Iām in Malaysia). My SA on delivery had also mentioned that I should run the battery down to ~5% then AC charge (not fast-charge) to 80%. Like you I...
Maybe just take a vehicle for a test drive to see how you feel when itās connected to your driving input. Listening to a flat sound file may/will not give the āconnectedā experience.
(Iām pretty sure most/all demo cars will have this option as Porsche itās a relatively āeasyā sell for them).
If it makes you feel better, the number of times Iāve ever seen the matrix headlight function activate in my Macan is the grand total of zero. š - Having said that, Iāve only done like 220kms in 3 weeks.
If itās anything like our other cars, thereās quite a specific scenario for it to activate...
If your budget allows and you think youāll like/use - then just get it.
Itās one of those options that I didnāt configure originally but my SA suggested I just include as it actually involves installation of an external speaker as well (not just sound piped inside). So if you want it later...
Iām actually thinking from the angle of a Dashcam (original or otherwise) that is usually tapped into that (12V battery), in parking mode, will drain the 12V to the point it cuts out in a ālow voltageā state.
Would triggering a pre-conditioning (waking the vehicle to run cooling off the Hv...
My question would then be - would a remote preconditioning be enough to trigger the same behaviour (ie charge the 12V battery)? Am assuming that HVAC is run off the HV battery, right?
I totally agree - with camera/vision/radar systems already built in to the vehicle this absolutely should be the way forward.
However as @themacnut has also pointed out (above), system integration, UI/UX hasnāt been one of Porscheās strongest suitsā¦ I guess the beauty with a ābolt-onā Dashcam...
I know what you meanā¦ itās a literal rabbit-hole of additional parts to be changedā¦
Conceptually Iād also like to see what coloured fender arches would look like on the vehicle - but suspect it may also be a polarising love/hate thing.
Even just thinking about it, Iām not sure whether it would...
+1 for the Chrono āclubā. This is my first Porsche and I much preferred the ālookā of the dash with the Chrono (personal preference of course).
As @W1NGE has posted above, the Chrono āpackageā does give you the āSports Plusā mode (definitely not the āPush-To-Passā button - the SA needs to be...
Canāt wait to see your ābuildā photos and results @krissrock!
I suspect if it turns out as well as we all suspect, thereāll be a huge back order for the gloss black trim pieces. Having the smooth gloss trim opens up so many more possibilities (for non-turbo models) in terms of colour...
As @Frankie and others (including myself) have found - the connector is purely dependant on which āmodelā you ordered (10316 vs 10311) with the former (M10316) being like the original puddle light (location of connector being in the middle) - thankfully connectors-types are the same for both...
Hey @Mavshyn!
Happy to field any questions you might have (if I can answer) from a Malaysian buying experience - please just PM me
Of course, if you think the wider group would benefit, feel free to ask in the thread (as @Petzi has pointed out above :brokenhearted::giggle:)
š¤£ OT: So much for the secret handshake to exchange top-secret informationā¦
If anything @Petzi, I think it highlights that the forum doesnāt have a single geographic region for āAsiaā - but has 9 regions dedicated for just the US (Iām not fussed) but it might be worthwhile for others.
Actually, thinking about this a little more - the ideal situation would be that Dashcam connects to PCM directly via wifi (nothing new for those that do), BUT given that PCM is now on a new OS (Android Auto), Porsche should develop an app/allow us to download the Porsche Dashcam app to PCM...
Honestly, thatās been my guess as well in terms of air pressure ātrappedā in the car making the single/last door to be closed harder than the rest.
Easy way to validate is to open two doors and close just the one door - it should close without an issue; just the last door to be closed has to...
