I think this is a myth. Car handles DC charging very well in extreme conditions, when you fast charge it during a very hot summer day with the car standing under the sun it just lowers the charging speed so the battery does not overheat and this prevents degradation. I wouldn't worry about that.
This is a good observation which I share and which explains a great deal. Once you start charging on the degraded charging curve it will never get back to the optimal one even if the temperature reaches optimal level.
In my case when I start charging with optimal parameters (like 10-20% SoC and...
Good luck. My idea is to switch for a Taycan, it's a much more matured platform. I drove the first gen and after this Macan was next level in terms of PCM, efficiency etc but the newest gen of Taycan is on pair at the moment if not better.
Do you have an air suspension and drive in lower/low modes?
This may be due to alignment problems caused by the air suspension. The alignment seems fine in normal mode but when you lower it everything goes off the charts. This is yet another issue on some cars it seems, I'm set for another...
And by the way - the alignment problems that return after 2-3k kms and cause the car to drive unlike any Porsche should... TWO SEPARATE DEALERS after the alignment was not successful told me "yeah, these cars drive like that, you have to get used to it".
I've also reported this to Porsche...
I've seen in it writing at my dealers - they got a response with specific models and part numbers. They were cagy with me trying to take a closer look at it and snap a picture. I'm sure that by now they know what's up and it's an expensive fix.
Yeah, pretty much the same case. At first - we don't see the problem. Then - yes, we see the problem, will escalate to Porsche. Then - well, it's normal. Then - well, there is a fix but only for some cars.
I've complained to Porsche directly with no luck. They either don't give a shit or claim...
Seems like it could be a good alternative for Macan EV in better price range but this interior... it looks like a flashy teenagers bedroom. BMWs used to have class and elegance, now it's cheap aesthetics to appeal the Chinese market.
You are correct but I would take the above mentioned curve with a grain of salt - I don't recall having 200kw+ at 50% SoC even in optimal conditions (mild weather and starting the process from 15% SoC).
Let's not be so quick to dismiss other peoples experiences.
The goal is not to prove who's right but to understand the process.
@Yves has some valid points, some of which align with my experience:
1) preconditioning in cold weather can have significant impact on charging time; charging very...
First of all, thank you for a very detailed post!
What's the source of the above info specifically for Macan?
In Taycan, the combination of a high-voltage heater and a heat pump can even achieve a heating output of up to 17 kW...
