I have an 11kw ChargePoint solution at home which has been bulletproof for the last 3 years and when I’m traveling I use a Muetux which has proven to be very versatile and good with all sorts of 110 and 220 outlets because you set the current draw at a range of levels.

If I’m charging off an outlet 220 or 110 I always look at the breaker max for that circuit and set my portable charger to draw a couple of amps below that to ensure that it doesn’t trip and then stop charger while I’m asleep.
If it’s anything like the Taycan the car is simply pulling as much power as it can hence tripping the circuit. You have to use the wall charger itself to set the available current to match the breaker.
in the Taycan at least there is no way of setting the maximum current draw
I bought the service plan which covered my 20k and 40k services for a 21 Taycan. Paid less than $1k total over both. The only expense I’ve incurred is the rear underside protection replacement at $900 after o reversed over a bollard but I can’t blame for Porsche for that.
part of my reasoning...
i don’t understand why you got rid of the Taycan in the first place? The ST is one of the prettiest cars you can buy. Do you need more range, more ground clearance or an easier car to get into? I can’t think of any other reason to switch.
If it makes you feel any better you will probably find that you will be changing the tires long before 40,000k - plan to buy a new set of tires every 20,000k if you drive the car like the rest of us.
I love the compass in my Taycan. Has made for interesting conversations on long drives. After the first year I stopped using Sport Plus without really noticing any difference so I won’t miss it on the Macan but I get that everyone has different driving ambitions.
I’m intrigued to see if the...
The manual charge port is not something you ever think about when opening. It’s natural, reliable and very easy.
the only advantage of the powered one is that you do not need to jump back out of the car to close it if you didn’t do it properly when unplugging.
this probably happens around once...
Oak silver metallic is too plasticky for me when I saw it. Brushed aluminum would be my choice or just stick with the piano black plastic that comes as standard.
Great to see so many Tesla owners trying the Porsche. The steering feel, the quiet and the quality of the interior will be a shockingly good surprise for you. Self driving is not. The ACC works great but there is no real equivalent to FSD. Enjoy driving it with one finger if you must but don’t...
