This is a great thread, and now that I have discovered someone on the forum who has at least studied architecture, I will share my latest OCD garage remodel experience with the hope of finding some advice! For the last 90+ days, I have been googling the sh*t out of the internet looking for some...
You just hit the nail on the head, the best response to an inquisitive, EV-disparaging Wal*Martian is to tell him that you don't know jack crap about EVs and the only reason you bought the Taycan was because Joe Burrow drives one. End of discussion.
It is a chickenshit marketing strategy. BMW adopted a shared platform for EV, PHEV and ICE 7s and the result is nothing short of a be-all-things-to-all-people abortion. I'm just a little surprised that the clever Bavarians who designed this platform omitted the smokestack for a coal-fired 7.
Hybrid-schmybrid, my midlife crisis will not involve any pit stops at last-century gas stations! I envision a future in which my eco-friendly 1000 HP e-718 (most likely black with acid green calipers) silently rockets away from a pretty red Ferrari 296 GTB as if it was standing still.
For sure, the 911 is Porsche's top ICE dog, but at only 640 HP (for the Turbo S) its relevance will quickly fade as soccer moms driving Model X's and yahoos driving Rivian pick-ups leave 911's in their dust. My guess is that that the 718 will have 1000 HP variants to fend off the competition...
This is perfect timing. Battery tech will be greatly improved in 4-5 years and I will be smack-dab in the middle of my midlife crisis! Just hope that Porsche sells a 1000+HP variant as any sports car with less than 1000 HP, by 2025/2026, will be for pussies and/or posers. Now to decide upon...

What about this "beast"? It is a lot of EV for $5,000. The damn thing is cheaper than my golf cart -- better range too. Watch out EZGO!
The exterior is worse than yawnsville. I went on the Lucid site a while back and could not come up with any exterior color that was acceptable against the shiny steel roof. It is a matter of personal preference and some may find the Lucid roof to be quite lovely, but I like black cars and this...
The South Koreans will for sure be an automotive force as the landscape shifts to EVs, but HFCs are dead on arrival -- even if the cars look amazing. https://energypost.eu/hydrogen-fuel-cell-cars-competitive-hydrogen-fuel-cell-expert/.
