The Story of Turbonite in video

The differentiation is in capabilities - power, performance. For anyone who must have visual differentiation, there is a "Turbo" badge on the back of the car. The badge is no different than a different color crest btw, anyone can tack any badge or emblem on their car afterwards anyways - Porsche...

The Story of Turbonite in video

Why doesn't Porsche just offer all different colors of hood ornaments to all customers? Make it all about personalization, let the customer pick the colors they like, interior and exterior. Who cares about exclusivity, Want a flashy car, get a Lambo. Want an elegant car with amazing performance...

The Story of Turbonite in video

It took Porsche a whole lot of effort from a lot of people to conclude what I concluded almost 2 years ago when I picked up my Taycan. A muted crest just looks better (to me at least, on my metallic white Porsche). This hood crest by the way is a Porsche OEM part, it's just not a hood emblem...

Don't overthink the NACS native port transition…

I don't see any reason why they would not move to NACS, just nothing would happen (or a message on screen would appear explaining the situation) when such non-DC enabled car plugs into DC charger. You may find it hard to believe, but there are Model S'es out there which do not have DC charging...

Don't overthink the NACS native port transition…

Worth mentioning that NACS does not mean Tesla network access. EA is moving to NACS in the future. You will be able to charge there with just an adapter, but Tesla SC access may still not be available as they pick and choose which cars can or cannot charge there. About 20% of Tesla SC's...

Macan EV 4 - is it really worth it ?

Test drive some to get a feel. Comparing 911 to a Taycan for example, yes Taycan has lower center of gravity with its massive battery, but it is a heavy beast compared to a 911. Taycan is the best handing EV I've had so far, but you can definitely feel the weight when braking and cornering. you...

Macan EV 4 - is it really worth it ?

It's physics. The heavier the object, the harder it is to change its trajectory. Unless you manage to change traction proportionally to weight, heavier car will always handle worse. If you look at how EV's race through turns, slow-in, fast-out. They make up in acceleration what they lose in...

Macan EV's Porsche Electric Sport Sound -- sample sound clips 🔊

Nope, dedicated external speakers on old Taycans, shared speakers for 2025 Taycans but Bose option or higher is required in order to spec the car with the sport sound.

Macan EV's Porsche Electric Sport Sound -- sample sound clips 🔊

I use it when I drive my Taycan at night on rural roads to warn/scare animals away. Discovered this usecase by accident when Taycan navigation took me through some state park in the middle of the night for some reason, and while on some gravel road I got literally surrounded by a bunch of deer...

Macan EV 4 - is it really worth it ?

Just to clarify, when I said "buying for the badge" I meant "buying for the brand", I did not mean "buying to show off to others" - that would only be a subset of badge seekers. Others buying for the badge are brand loyalists, or people who like particular brand's products, whether because they...

Macan EV 4 - is it really worth it ?

You are not wrong about the EV realities. I think however Porsche is marketing to ICE car buyers, not EV buyers. Macan EV is a replacement for the ICE version (which is being discontinued in EU). Most of Porsche lineup is ICE too, so they position their EVs within the ICE lineup. IMHO currently...

Official Macan EV Specs & Pictures Before Reveal! 380 mile range and 630bhp

Hmmm... they moved the charging ports to the back, so anyone switching from a Taycan would have to re-install their garage EVSE to a new location (or drag the cable if long enough). Anyone who would get a Macan EV as a second car could not charge in the Taycan parking place in the garage either...

Official Macan EV Specs & Pictures Before Reveal! 380 mile range and 630bhp

If you're looking to avoid breakdown potentials, stay away from first production year of a new EV platform from a company which is still learning EVs, online services, software in general. Porsche has way more experience with air suspensions than EV drivetrains, or heaters. As a buyer of a brand...

Official Macan EV Specs & Pictures Before Reveal! 380 mile range and 630bhp

I wonder if the Turbo aprons (front and back) are standard, or some Sport Design Package option. If the latter, you might be able to order it on a 4 too.

Official Macan EV Specs & Pictures Before Reveal! 380 mile range and 630bhp

Porsche numbers are likely in Launch Mode only. Same as Taycan. No LC performance numbers are lower.

Official Macan EV Specs & Pictures Before Reveal! 380 mile range and 630bhp

I wonder how much of that max power/acceleration requires Launch Mode from complete stop, i.w. how much power/torque is usable for anything other than drag racing.

Porsche Macan EV Highway Range Test | Behind the Wheels of Porsche’s First Electric SUV

My C4 options must have been expensive. Also, that over $100K I remember might have been the cost out the door. Then again, I put over $25K in options into the Taycan, with only about $1K being esthetics, so Porsche sure knows how to extract money from customers via options.

Porsche Macan EV Highway Range Test | Behind the Wheels of Porsche’s First Electric SUV

I'm not old enough to go back 50 years buying Porsches, but I bought my first one in 2001 - a 911C4, IIRC it costed me just over $100K USD. Today, 23 years later, 911C4 starts at $122K, so say $130 for matching package (I did not option the fist one, only got all the tech package and performance...

Porsche Macan EV Highway Range Test | Behind the Wheels of Porsche’s First Electric SUV

Ok, let's see if the new Taycan comes with a smaller, lighter battery matching the range of the current one, or will it come in heavier but with extra range.
