@daveo4EV , is the Macan using full regen when using the brakes, or does it require some break-in period like some Taycans did (as documented in the Taycan User Manual, reported by some owners, though not all, mine was fully regenerating when I picked it up with <50miles on the odometer).
Wrong. I ordered a Taycan when it was eligible for $7,500 tax rebate. Biden changed it before I took delivery, my car lo longer qualified for it. I also paid a higher sales tax, and increase kicked-in after my car was already manufactured and in transit. So no, taxes and related things don't...
@daveo4EV , try to check in the App under Account -> Charging service. I see this on mine:
The link to manage subscription takes me to mycharging.porsche.com. Maybe it will work for you if:
you are logged into porsche.com
You insert your VIN number into the following URL...
I had a similar message about not being able to control the cars functions until I get physical access, but the Porsche Connect Store allowed me to activate the subscriptions, such as the Connect and the charging one. Possibly they closed this loophole(?)
No better way to get to know a car. As you know, I did a 3,500 mile trip home with the Taycan, zero regrets, and would do it again. If you buy a car with the intent to drive it (which I know you do), I highly recommend it. YOLO!
See if you can activate the charging subscription earlier. With my Taycan, Porsche online portal let me activate when my car was on the boat to Jacksonville, Florida (probably same port for you). Can't be sure if that did anything, but PnC worked 2 hrs after picking up the car, and every one of...
Less than a year seems fast compared to how long people waited for their Taycans but a couple of years back. I waited 20 months (would have been longer if I wasn't willing to buy it from a dealer across the continent, drive it home 3,500 miles), but there were people who waited way longer.
I took a Macan Turbo EV for a spin last week. It had the AR HUD. I agree with you Porsche is making great progress on the tech, as well as UX improvements - for example the Drive Mode settings are now remembered, not like in the Taycan which they reset each time you switch drive mode. They also...
The differentiation is in capabilities - power, performance. For anyone who must have visual differentiation, there is a "Turbo" badge on the back of the car. The badge is no different than a different color crest btw, anyone can tack any badge or emblem on their car afterwards anyways - Porsche...
Why doesn't Porsche just offer all different colors of hood ornaments to all customers? Make it all about personalization, let the customer pick the colors they like, interior and exterior. Who cares about exclusivity, Want a flashy car, get a Lambo. Want an elegant car with amazing performance...
It took Porsche a whole lot of effort from a lot of people to conclude what I concluded almost 2 years ago when I picked up my Taycan.
A muted crest just looks better (to me at least, on my metallic white Porsche). This hood crest by the way is a Porsche OEM part, it's just not a hood emblem...
I don't see any reason why they would not move to NACS, just nothing would happen (or a message on screen would appear explaining the situation) when such non-DC enabled car plugs into DC charger. You may find it hard to believe, but there are Model S'es out there which do not have DC charging...
Worth mentioning that NACS does not mean Tesla network access.
EA is moving to NACS in the future. You will be able to charge there with just an adapter, but Tesla SC access may still not be available as they pick and choose which cars can or cannot charge there.
About 20% of Tesla SC's...
Test drive some to get a feel. Comparing 911 to a Taycan for example, yes Taycan has lower center of gravity with its massive battery, but it is a heavy beast compared to a 911. Taycan is the best handing EV I've had so far, but you can definitely feel the weight when braking and cornering. you...
It's physics. The heavier the object, the harder it is to change its trajectory. Unless you manage to change traction proportionally to weight, heavier car will always handle worse. If you look at how EV's race through turns, slow-in, fast-out. They make up in acceleration what they lose in...
