Tesla does this today. You buy a fully functioning car and the full driving features etc aren't guaranteed in a reselling arrangement. Confirming the hardware is there is the best you can hope for in the repurchase. This isn't really new, just annoying.

Where those lights fit the design of the Taycan, they sure don't with the Macan - I can understand them using them as a design cue for the electric fleet, but they should have made the light itself into a formfactor that fits the Macan. It looks rushed and a vehicle version of 'frankenstein'.
