Porsche 718 Boxster convertible EV spotted charging at 170kw rate

I had the use of an F150 Lightning for a few hours last Fall. Love it. Ridiculously quick for a truck. It’s a special thing.

Porsche 718 Boxster convertible EV spotted charging at 170kw rate

I have an F150 Lightning arriving next week. I am going to drive that around a while until I figure out what I am going to do next. Two weeks prior to the Taycan incident, my Alfa Romeo 4C Spider was totaled at the dealer while it was in for service — stuff of nightmares. In December, I...

Porsche 718 Boxster convertible EV spotted charging at 170kw rate

I was rear-ended at speed. I was hit so hard in the rear that the steering column and pedal box were bent. Lucky to walk away, but my Taycan was a total loss — it sacrificed itself for me.

Porsche 718 Boxster convertible EV spotted charging at 170kw rate

2024 Macan EV Interior Spied Showing Range Estimate, Sport Chrono, Instrument Gauge Cluster

The “sharper dynamics” claim is interesting. It’s hard to imagine that an SUV with a higher CG is going to handle better than a low slung sedan that feels like a 911.

    Rented a Model Y

The car already uses very aggressive regen to slow the car down when you use the brake pedal. Porsche’s brake blending is the best in the business. “Legacy biases”… um… yeah… um. For EVs to succeed at scale they need to appeal to current enthusiasts. Having a pedal to go fast and a pedal to...

    Rented a Model Y

I have ACC. As an engineer, I subscribe to Porsche’s “coasting is more efficient” approach. For highway driving, it is superior.

    Rented a Model Y

They should not add one pedal driving. I am a staunch advocate for the 2 (or 3) pedal driving experience. Part of the appeal of the Taycan is that it drives like a proper Porsche.

    Rented a Model Y

I’ve driven Tesla cars through friends and through Turo. Despite the transcendent hype machine, they always left me cold. I didn’t want my own EV until I drove a Taycan. A Model Y costs $63k, but it’s a not a $63k driving experience. The interior feels like an economy car. It’s fitting that...
