I think it depends on MPG trends, we have both a '25 Tacoma Hybrid TRDOR and 4Runner same trim. The 4Runner has gone from 305 or so to over 350 consistently but gets better MPGs around 23 as it's on the hwy more. The Tacoma shows under 300 all the time but gets 1 -2 less MPGs.

Im at around 370-380 miles to empty... this is assuming 16 gallons to empty and 3 gal in reserve
I average 23-24mpg

It will go up with time mine, started in the low 300 miles and now is 415 suburban driving, Also I keep the car in eco and try and keep the rpm’s around 2k and under. I still keep up with traffic when taking off from a stop sign while doing this method and do not drive like a snail.

Avoid eco mode, stay in normal mode. Seems to improve mpg !

Isn't ECO mode more fuel efficient?
The things that have been said using ECO mode was that the engine stays in low gear or take longer to reach optimal speed leading to inefficient driving esp in hilly or high speed/hwy speed.

lack of power delivery causes you to stay on the throttle longer to accelerate which can actually use more fuel than a short burst of higher power (this is true... check out how to hypermile)

But all to say, you may get better MPG with NORMAL mode bc ECO mode isnt needed to regulate power in steady conditions. Also if you're carrying a heavy load and/or driving through hilly terrains, the reduced throttle and shift points can strain the engine more and reduce efficiency.

Mmhh. So shifting with the semi automatic gear is better in eco mode for long trips ?

I have not tried any other mode than eco, but I am up to 24.2 mpg, With 4700 miles 80 percentage suburban driving 20 percent I nterstate. If you have n off-road setup maybe eco is not right for you

I'd kill for 280 per tank on fill up. I'm averaging around 255-260 when I fill up.
Maybe a reset will help.

Guys. I continue to be puzzled. Do not get me wrong, I love my SR5….but when I fill up the dash shows 305 miles to empty. Is this a tank size issue or a bad reading somewhere?
My pilot V6 used to get about 420 miles to empty when the tank was full.

Am i missing anything? Forgive me if this has been answered before.

thx
Ours did same thing until i went up north last week, long ride recalibrates it. got up to 372 to empty on the "Trip Average" NOT the "Total Average"

Yes it is estimated on your past driving, not sure if it is your last tank or your average fuel mileage, I would assume it is your fuel mileage average
There is way to reset the tracking of the average so I am guessing it is from the last reset. Seems logical but one can never be too sure. I don't see how you could be getting 24.1 MPG. I am at 20.1 and I do mostly highway.
