It’s definitely harsher than all previous gens and it ain’t tire pressure lol. It’s a deal breaker for me with my back not being the best. Been shopping around for something different since I got it, luckily most places I’ve taken it to will offer MSRP which is what I paid.

Hey Bruce
Do you mean Toyota dealers or even dealers of other car brands?

Toyota dealers mostly, but they have other brand dealerships as well they can trade for. Going to try carmax next week they typically offer good prices just waiting for the car I want to be available to trade when I bring it in.

May I ask what car do you want to trade your 4Runner for?

I’m running 34psi on an ORP and find the ride rough on gravel or chip sealed road. The 5th gen was much smoother than the 6th. I suspect it has something to do with the newer frame and body design. It’s great on smooth highway.

On a smooth highway it is very smooth. Unfortunately most local roads in southeast Michigan have a patch every 4 ft which you totally feel in this 6th gen SR5.

What part of the US are you from? I got a quote from CarMax which was 42k. Thought it was pretty low because they are selling it at markup on their site.

I inquired about the rough ride problem at my dealer as well. Part of my issue was that I moved to E-Load tires. But, what the 4-Runner guy at my dealer told me was that there that all 4Runners (except TRD PRO and Trailhunter) are equipped with Bilstein shocks. I've aired my tires down to 33lbs and have found a slightly better ride, but nothing drastic. It may just be me, but I sometimes feel a difference in ride between drive modes. ECO feels smoother than Sport. JMO - I could be crazy talking right now.

If it were me, I'd talk to someone before switching the shocks. But, I totally agree.. The overall ride on the 6th generation sucks compared to the previous versions. It's one of my few complains about this

My limited was at 54 psi when i recieved it. i brought it down to 35 psi but at that pressure when they heat up your at about 37 TO 38 psi. REMEMBER cold tire pressure check in morning like the sticker says 33 PSI. and now when heated up about 34-35 psi rides much better and i have 20s on my limited lower profile. harder ride

I quick test is to go and put eight 40 pound water softener salt bags in the back or more see how it rides then ? If it rides allot better a shock guy could fix the ride I think, I have the SR5 stock, Thought it was rough at first put my tires to 31 cold 33 when warm. Got used to it but I was like you a first could not wait for my title to trade it in but not other midsize body on frame SUV out there with great gas mileage and handles great at 70-80 miles an hour but a little bumpy on bumpy roads. My wife has a 2021 Lexus GX 460 and it is a little bumpy when the roads get rough also

I also did consider the passport because of this god f en brake noise. But man it’s just ugly in the back like a freaken Santa Fe I can’t do it. I wont do a jeep or ford. I’ll end up waiting for bilstein 5100s to come out and get all for shocks replaced with putting the front up to 1.75 and adding a rear 1 inch spacer. That’s what I did on my 2016 4Runner sr5 prem. The 2025 sr5 and sr5 sport/prem use the same standard shocks. I bet that helps with the banging on each pothole.

Curious to know your thoughts on the 26 Passport TS and how it compares to your 2025 4Runner. I test drove a Passport RTL (no TS or TS Elite to test drive) and I found it has a smooth and compliant ride, along with a nice interior with lots of storage and cubbies.
