Hey all, I just picked up my first ever 4Runner today and I’m loving it. I’ve combed through other forum threads and couldn’t find an answer to this, but I did see a photo of a dash with the icon on it so it may just be normal.

is the cruise control icon ALWAYS on the dash? Any way to turn it off if I’m not using CC? I’m coming from a 2020 RAM with ACC and the light would only activate when I hit the cruise control button so it’s just a change. any way to turn off the icon?

I think you can change it in the settings. But I’m still a little confused about what content you can show right and left.

I too want to know the answer to your question! It's seems we're either forced to have the adaptive cruise control icon showing or the regular control icon showing on the dash. Weird it doesn't disappear even when off.

Just press and hold the left ok button then you can scroll through 3 choices, Cruise, Blank, or the Settings gear.

You're talking about the center screen in between the tach and speedometer but I don't think that's what the initial post is talking about. I believe the initial post is about the icon that is always on just to the left of the 30 mph mark in the picture.

I’d really like to see a video explaining the process of which gauges/settings go on left and right sides. I can never get what I want on the sides. I’m old though. Maybe one of my grandchildren can explain it to me.

I’m old too…even the less complex display on the SR5 is befuddling (that means ‘confusing’ for you younger folks)

I found this guy's video helpful (even tho it's for a 2024 Tacoma it's got basically all the same functions in the 2025 4Runner):

Gotcha, I thought he meant the big "Adaptive Cruise Mode" in the middle, I don't like that showing but the blank and gear are worse.

I haven't even had time to sit with the dealer and make them walk me through it all, but this overdone tech is why I almost got a used 4R instead of new. OLD SCHOOL is ok. I don't need popups and constant screen activity while I'm driving!

I can't answer OP's question about turning off the adaptive cruise icon, but Steve Clifford has several helpful You Tube Toyota videos. He's the training manager for a Toyota dealership.
Here's the link to his You Tube channel.

Yeah this is exactly what it seems on mine too, I’m actually glad it isn’t just me lol at least I know it’s semi-normal. I was half considering bringing it to a dealer to make sure my CC isn’t broke.

I watched one of his videos and he did some interesting things to the cluster that I am going to try when I get back to my 4Runner. He was doing it on a Land Cruiser though so it might be a bit different. The “good news” is that the CC icon was also on the LC instrument cluster so I think it’s just typical.

Highly recommend watching the videos vice trying wade through the owners manual. The small cruise control icon is always there.
