Hopefully, I'll be picking up a '25 SR5 within the next 2-3 weeks, delayed a month and half due to the QC Hold. I would like to upgrade the factory tires soon, while they still have a decent "used" value. I'm looking at the tire selection in the "All-Terrain Highway" category on TireRack. Most of my driving (97%) will be on road. I would like to take it on the beach (sand) and drive it down dirt roads with mud (camping trips), nothing too crazy. I made a list, preferenced by order. Top priorities are quiet ride, good on-road performance, and good fuel economy. I'm also debating whether to keep the stock size 245/70R17 or go up one to 265/70R17. Let me know your personal experience and/or recommendations. Thanks in advance.

#1 is reviewed very favorably by TireRack, plus it's what I'll replace the stock Falkens on my ORP when they're kaput. You can buy these from Costco with all the Costco benefits and member pricing. They also seem to have the best snow performance of the current A/T crop.

#3 seems to suit your requirements the best, if you're not planning much off roading

Doesn't the SR5 already come with those Yokohamas from the factory?

I am a Costco member and Bridgestone is currently on sale, ends July 29th. The Dueler A/T Ascent seems to be the most recently designed tire. I agree with you on #3, those Yokoyama's seem to have the best on road performance.

The factory tires are either Yokohama Geolander XCV or Bridgestone Dueler "something". Both of these are regular all season tires. In my area, I've only seen the Yoks on SR5s. Not sure if tire selection is regional or some other factors.

Have you thought about getting a second set of tires? That's my plan. I'll keep the stock wheels for winter and probably get studded snows. For the spring/ summer/ fall I'll get something well suited for the muddy roads we see in the spring as well as something that looks ruggedly 'cool'. Right now the Platinum looks like it will be the best fit for my wants I'll get stuck with the 20" wheels. That makes it easier to justify my plan. I certainly can understand that some people either don't have the extra money or maybe a place to store the extra wheels and can't go this route.

Of those options, I would spring for the Yokohama and never look back.

Thanks for all the input. I would rather work with one set of tires for all year. I did hear the Coopers and Continentals have the best on-road handling. The Yokohamas have the least aggressive tread, by appearance. The Bridgestones are the latest to come out. I think they will be the most advanced but I could be wrong. The Costco sale on them makes them a good bargain too. I'll have to decide what to do when I get the truck.

Any of you know the used value of the factory tires if I remove them within the first 300 miles? the 245/70R17 seems to be an oddball size that's not frequently used.

Om my 19 Tacoma TRD OF I was running K02's, they were quiet and worked really well on/off road. In the 212,000 miles I had it I went to 3 sets with the third having plenty of life left at the trade in. I rotated and balanced them every 4-6K. 80% of my driving was highway/city and the other 20% was beach and jeep roads for work and play. Currently running K03's on my 25 SR5 4runner and they have a similar feel.

If you're open to other suggestions, I ran K02's on my 5th gen 4runner TRDP and I loved them. I was in between AT3 and K02 because I've heard a lot of people saying K02's were noisy and wanted a comfortable ride, but my tire shop gave me a really good price for the K02's so I ended up going with those. I mainly drove on the road but would take it up to the mountains in light snow (I live in SoCal) and some dirt trails from time to time and those tires did more than enough for me. They also look GREAT :sneaky:

Currently rocking the K03's on the 25 SR5 and even though I'm only about 3k miles in with these, I feel like K03's are definitely an upgrade from the K02's. Not noisy, can't tell you much on fuel economy since I went 315/70/17 and that alone ruined my mpg lol, and ride comfortability is great still.

I have the Cooper Road+Trail in 255/75 r17 on my SR5. I’m 4000 miles in and they’ve been great! I’ve done some beach driving and some mild trails and have had no issues with traction. They’re fairly quiet on the road as well with good wet traction.

I initially thought I would go with KO2/3s or AT4s but I'm looking for a better on road experience. Beside the performance of an A/T off-road, I think the SR5 looks funny with the stock "car" tires. The factory Dunlops on the 5th gen didn't look that bad with a more aggressive tread pattern for a highway tire. Again, 97% of time this vehicle will be driven on road. I appreciate all of your input.

With Costco, I think the Bridgestones are the clear choice for your case.

Otherwise, just run out the factory Yokohamas / OE Tire and then decide since you're on-road most of the time.

Have you noticed a power loss or reduction in MPGs with these?
