Telo make much more sense. More capability in an even smaller package. 4/5 passenger and still have the bed but can drop the midgate and carry a 4x8.I also think the Telo is going to be similar concept. Though it's look is quite un-tradititional.
Given that the Scout will be built on the Rivian software base that is highly connected, I am sure the Scout will run fine without connectivity in the boonies, but i doubt there will be any effort to design in a way to intentionally disconnect it, at least at first.
Personally, I prefer minimal connectivity/not to rely on it. The Sierra and Silverado EVs rely on AT&T, which is spotty where I live. If we have to have connectivity, let it use whatever network you prefer.
