I also think the Telo is going to be similar concept. Though it's look is quite un-tradititional.

Given that the Scout will be built on the Rivian software base that is highly connected, I am sure the Scout will run fine without connectivity in the boonies, but i doubt there will be any effort to design in a way to intentionally disconnect it, at least at first.
Telo make much more sense. More capability in an even smaller package. 4/5 passenger and still have the bed but can drop the midgate and carry a 4x8.

Personally, I prefer minimal connectivity/not to rely on it. The Sierra and Silverado EVs rely on AT&T, which is spotty where I live. If we have to have connectivity, let it use whatever network you prefer.

I have dash cam's on all of my vehicles, they have saved me trouble a couple of times, one where a woman was texting and rear ended me, claiming I brake checked her, dash cam clearly showed her on the phone. The other was someone cut me off clipping my front fender from a disappearing merge lane. Just showed the video clip to the Officer and he wrote the other guy up.

Agree. I have three channel dashcams on all vehicles with battery backup for parking mode for two days. One car can record at the airport for a week.

I wish all cars recorded like Tesla or Rivian and always notify when parked, always connected, record all the time and stored footage in the vehicle and the cloud. I wish all had a forward and rear Telephoto too.

My youngest just dodged a head on collision from an impaired driver crossing the midline. All on dashcam and luckily no impact.

Starlink or something like it was shown on Traveler at CES 25. Always on I hope.

There’s no getting away from it.

I mentioned in a forum I had a stroke, wife rushed me to treatment at our ER, and my paralysis was cured in minutes.

I then got bombarded with cremation spam.

I guess I won the gene lottery, 77 and still hike, scuba dive, bike, and speed walk 3 miles a day besides working out 3 times a week, still have all my original parts. But! I get those spams also and from the Neptune Society. Do they know something I don't :)

I got bombarded, never had any before.

Woke up, stretched, went numb,, paralyzed.
4 hour window to get to a properly equipped hospital, back to normal in under an hour.

A day in the ICU I saw and learned it can happen to anyone at any time.

It sure can, a friend of mine I worked with in Germany bent over to pick up a dropped pencil, just kept going to the floor in pain. Took him away in a meat wagon, never saw him again as he was medi-vac'd back to the states.

As long is it can be turned off. I don't want to burn battery while parked in my garage.

It is easy to say I don't really want a connected vehicle. But in honesty, my Iphone does enough tracking of me anyway. I can respect wanting a dash cam though - my wife's car was massively keyed when it was in a nearly empty parking lot. I took some acquaintances to a movie once - and my thank you was a obscenity keyed into the side in foot tall letters (apparently they had brought drugs and had planned to sneak out of the theater before the show started only to find my trucked locked - they also did their best to break off my side view mirror).

Personally I have no beef with Tesla - but I certainly would not want one these days without full set of security cameras. Any EV will be only slightly less hated where I live - I hate to be a pessimist, but it will get vandalized eventually.

FWIW, used to manage IT for the firm I worked for. Updates are fine, but I always wanted to control when they happened. No desire for everyone complaining when the network is slow and their computers randomly want to reboot. I would do controlled updates at night.

My brother-in-law did not need a security camera to prove how the person rear ended him. She was taking a youtube video and posted it... Still took 2 years to get a payoff. Good news is while the vehicle was technically totalled - he has drove it fine for about 4 years now. Bad news - he was fired (could no longer receive contracts) because his vehicle did not meet the company delivery standards after the collision.
