I run one of these on both my vehicles with 1up racks. If you keep the racks mounted 24/7 and drive a lot of gravel roads, the 1up hitch locking mechanism tends to loosen a bit on its own. The hitch u-bolt tightener prevents that from ever happening. It will also help level things out a bit for you.
That seems like a better idea than the 1UP “lock”, they can be popped off with one quick pry by a simple hammer, learned this when my key broke off inside the lock 🤣

Yikes. The broken key sounds like a headache.

This is actually not a replacement for the lock, just another solution to fix the rack in position on the hitch and add redundancy to the 1up hitch connection. I still use a 1up lock through the hitch.

Here’s my setup. Yakima Stage 2 rack. I have a 2 bike add-on as well. I’ve also setup supplemental taillights and turn signals (found a good tutorial on YT).

Here’s my rack with the 2 bike add-on. Crazy how far out it extends. I used it to carry 3 bikes this week (1 ebike and 2 meatbikes). Truck and rack did fine, though the rear shocks bottomed out on wavy pavement sections.

I put my 1up Super Duty with two trays and the ramp accessory on my SR5 today. Loaded it with two e-bikes. I was expecting the vehicle to complain or think it's towing a trailer but nothing. I took them about 15 miles on city roads, dropped the bikes off, folded the rack up. On the drive home, no warnings. Of course, the backup camera was useless only seeing the rack or bikes but, no warnings.

For other SR5 owners, are you getting warnings? I heard mixed reports in other threads of yes and no for the SR5.

Here’s my TRD Sport Premium with a Thule rack. My 5th gen had the bike racks on top, but with plans to lift this and put bigger tires on I need to make sure it will still fit in the garage!

I read that the payload capacity, which is the amount of cargo and passengers the vehicle can carry after accounting for the vehicle's weight, is 895 lbs. I know that rack is heavy, I have one. Unless you're getting close to 700lbs, I would not expect the rear to dip that much.

If I was planning to pull a trailer, I'd be looking at a weight distributing hitch for sure. Maybe better shocks, springs, adjustable, etc. I am spoiled, my other vehicle is an F350 FX4. Even with an 8000lb trailer, it did not dip down more than an inch. I know, completely different vehicles.

Looks great. This makes me miss my silver 5th gen. It was so easy to keep clean! I went black on the 6th gen to save $4k, but it scratches looking at it.

Disable PKSB to prevent the back up braking. That setting will save until you choose to turn it back on.

As for auto trailer detection being super glitchy, you can’t turn it off. Well, you can, but it will re-enable on the next ignition cycle.
I havent mounted my 1UP rack yet but I did disable PKSB just to learn how to do it. So when you do it do you always have that annoying yellow warning symbol on the lower right side of the dashboard? Any way to "accept" it so it disappears?

It’s a mixed bag for me. If I take the rack off then reinstall it, the first start-up doesn’t trigger the warning. But the second start-up does. Weird

Since the Toyota hitch receiver is bigger than usual, I ran into the 1UP lock issue. I ordered the QR/HD wheel lock pin (SKU: 260027) as has been suggested and find this to be just a little short if using the 1UP rubber grommet that came with my original 1UP lock. I guess I can trim it down about 1.5mm. Or maybe not use the lock at all since I only have the rack on when I'm bike racing and not concerned about theft in that scenario.

Am I the only one that kept pressing "NO" after I took off my bike rack. Please press "YES"

Anyone have any experience with the Yakima EXO system? We are considering picking up one with the cargo box and the top shelf and bike rack. We have need for some more storage when we head out in August to visit family Redding but we also want to take the bikes along as well.

Also if anyone ever needs to carry some big bikes, as in motorcycles, I am loving this mototote max. it has a 600lbs weight capacity. Great way to get my KTM to the mountains to do some trial riding.
