That’s exactly what mine sounds like. Typically happens when first leaving the driveway but is fine by the time I’m at the end of the street
I brought mine back toothed dealer and they replaced the pads and resurfaced the rotors. The comment on the invoice said too much metal in the pads.

Did it solve it?

  • The hybrid system's regenerative braking necessitates different components, including a more sophisticated braking control unit and potentially different brake hardware, to manage the interplay between the electric motor and the friction brakes.
In essence, the hybrid model's braking system is designed to be more efficient and potentially offer a slightly different feel due to the regenerative braking aspect.

What % off hybrid owners are experienicing this problem? Would be nice to know if the differnt brakes have any impact on the squealing and squeaking.

ORP, non-hybrid here. Seems intermittent though, happening more frequently when it is humid/wet out.

It's happening to both hybrid and non-hybrids alike unfortunately.

I drove through a heavy rainstorm a couple of days ago. The very next day, I heard the brake squeal in reverse. I have about 3500 miles on my TRD Sport.

Humidity makes it squeal even worse. It sounds like a train stopping (metal to metal)

Moisture on the disc which causes surface rust will cause squeals when braking. Just drive it normally and it goes away.

Does anyone else have brake squeal like this?
Mine is exactly like this. It used to come and go, but now it does it everytime I'm in reverse. Everyone turns and looks. The good news is that everyone knows my vehicle is in reverse. Dealer will be looking at it in 2 weeks.

Yeah, that doesn’t happen. Squeals every time in reverse and as you’ve probably seen in the threads, it’s a known issue and dealers are implementing a fix.

to the people who have brake squeal does it only happen on the first start up reverse of your day? Does it come back after a drive? every time you reverse? I get a tiny bit (not as loud in the video) only after it rains and it never happens again

It’s really awful in the morning, but it’s always there when reversing no matter how much I drive.

I second this. Will be having the dealership take a look and fix it at the 5,000 mile check up.

Hybrid TRD ORP here. I have heard it one time in the last 4000 miles, on a cool damp morning. Other than that, I've never had a brake squeal.
