Matter of fact I left my driveway around 2pm today was backed in…. Got my kids school and it let out its nice squeal braking while going forward. I’ve had this thing for 2 months and the noise is so loud I’ve only put 1100 miles on it. I want people to look at my 4Runner cause it looks good not because it burst their ear drums. I’ve owned 4Runners for 15 years and never once had it make some stupid shit noise with the brakes. If Toyota would have advised a warning that it could happen before purchase I wouldn’t haven’t gotten a 6th gen

Please submit a claim to the Toyota Brand Engagement Center by calling at (800) 331-4331
Pfffff I’ve called them 4 different times. The last time was today asking about my case I opened last week with a TAC number my dealership opened up with Toyota. Nobody has done anything. And I am feeling really not good about no communication from Toyota. Even just saying hey we hear you and are looking into it.

The brakes are a big reason I pushed my deposit to a 2026MY. I'm hoping this and a few other items get fixed soon (especially since they will be switching to 2026 production in just a few months given the delays with the 2025). I'm not sure it's relevant but my Highlander has some squealing brakes with the OEM brakes (though not super loud like the 6g 4runners). They went quiet after I installed better aftermarket pads and rotors. I don't remember the part details but they were pretty standard higher-end aftermarket parts (i.e. like $250 instead of $150 for the OEM parts).

On the plus side, it seems there are no major powertrain issues which is a big deal and since the powertrain is used in the Tacoma and Land Cruiser, we can have more confidence in the engine, hybrid system, and transmission at this point.

Anyone have this issue and had the dealer actually fix it? I just KNOW that if I take mine to the dealer I will just waste my time and they will give me excuses.

It’s a waste of time right now. Unless you have a dealer that will go above and beyond. Mine acknowledged the noise, but they said the brakes technically meet the Toyota specifications. Which means they won’t do anything until they hear from corporate.

My rotor is definitely showing large wear marks, and the noise is getting louder. On my most recent warranty claim with the brand engagement website, I at least was told someone from engineering/quality has seen my video. Also, the customer service representative said the noise was so loud and annoying in the video they had to stop the video.

I wish you better luck than me.

Same with me. What I don’t understand is if you take the car to a mechanics and say hey my brakes make noise. Well they say oh well or like fix it? I don’t understand. At this point I’ll buy the fix and then fight Toyota later lol

Not sure if it'll do any good. Noise is not a safety concern for NHTSA.
I would agree to disagree. When I am reversing it so loud I take my foot of the brake. Subconsciously because I know the noise stops. So eventually I’ll back into something because I was trying to get around the noise

I'm almost 8K miles living in Texas, and haven't heard a squeak or anything. I've been wondering if it's a humidity type of thing. We average near Dallas 65-75%

I posted earlier. Yes the dealer replaced the pads and turned the rotors. They said it was excessmetal in the pads.
