I find it annoying that every time I start my 4Runner, the infotainment screen hits me with a reminder to "Experience Drive Connect." Even when I leave it on Apple Carplay when I turn it off, it aways flashes to this screen when I start back up...

I don't currently have any Toyota Connected Services, and don't really want to see this nag screen (or the associated menu item for that matter). Anyone got a solution?

You should have gotten a 1 year trial when you linked your Toyota. Other than that I think the dealer can disable the GPS app but I’m not certain.

Assuming this goes away if you register the connected service, what happens when you do not renew in 1 year. Does it start nagging you again? I don't believe I will pay for GPS services or any of the others when the trial is over. Of course, if it wows me in the first year, I would consider but it would have to be good!

Dusty Lens - That was helpful.

I too have the get started screen and when I go to the Toyota app, I see the other free subscriptions but not drive connect. Does Toyota have a number to call.....

I took my 4Runner to the dealership and they had to remove my vehicle in the Toyota App and re-add it to trigger the Connected Services trials. They are working now.

What did tge dealer do? I confirmed online that the SR5 does not have Direct connect trial. Did you buy it or do you have a trim level that includes it?

My TRD ORP includes the trial. It just didn't activate properly the first time I added the VIN to the Toyota App, so I had to remove and re-add the vehicle to trigger the trial.

Thanks. Looks like Toyota cheaped out on the trial subscription offerings for the SR5. Big loss for them as I will not try it by having to pay $15 a month. This coupled with they bundle the subscription so I would be paying for Remote connect again even though its free for a year. Crappy thought out subscriptions.

No my big grip is the screen defaults to direct connect at start up. Needs an option to go to a different screen if you don’t have the subscription.

Thanks for the clarification.

I’m heading to the Dealership now to pick up my SR5. Has anyone come up with a way to disable Toyota Connect all together? I have zero interest in them tracking my telemetry. I’ve yanked the modules from my 23 Mustang and F350 Platinum and that did the trick. What’s funny is you don’t get any messages that they are disconnected. Clearly they don’t want you to know it’s there. Even if you don’t pay, they are collecting data and selling it.

I learned this the hard way on my 16 Corvette Z06. GM sold the data to Lexus Nexus. Lexus Nexus sold the data to Geico. Considering I only raced my Z06 on a track or spent hours on the Dyno with it, and almost never drove on the street, you can imagine how much Geico wants to insure me now.

On that note, if you don't want Toyota selling data about your driving habits, you should definitely decline the "Insure Connect" service which quietly gets activated when you accept the Master Connected Services Agreement. In the Toyota App, click the User icon in the upper-right corner, then click the Account button, then go to the "Data Privacy Portal"
