I would need a dash cam system installed both in the front and the rear. Is there a vendor currently selling a package tailor made for the 6th Gen? Do not want to see hanging wires around the cabin. Please advise.

Most Dashcam Manufactures have Front/Rear setups with long cables. The "Wires Hanging" is more of an installer thing. If you find a reputable installer, they will hide everything under the headliner and pillars.

The only "Toyota" Dashcam is grossly overpriced and its front only.

I’d like to eventually see Toyota provide an add on to the integrated font-facing dash cam that will be rear facing. Although overpriced, Toyota’s camera works without hanging wires, turns on as needed while the vehicle is parked, etc. I gave it a lot of thought and research and determined it’s worth the money than buy and install an aftermarket device.

That’s surprising. Most find the pricing and features/quality ridiculous. You can get a 2-3CH 4K Dashcam from a premium brand for the cost Toyota wants for a 1080p (HD) single front facing. It’s essentially an entry-level Dashcam at a premium price…

The “Hanging wire” thing is just an installer and camera thing. All premium dashcams that are hardwired can have hidden cables, and do basic things like turn on when the vehicle does, etc. most have way more features as well, such as parking modes, etc.

I use one from ROVE. Front facing only. Wire visible but doesn't bother me. Excellent picture and wifi downloads. I've used 3 or 4 others in the past 10 years

My recollection of the Toyota dashcam is that it's using camera technology that first came to market in 2016, and it covers wires simply because it includes a big plastic cover that is at least 4 times the size footprint of most modern dashcams.

The wiring of a 3rd party camera is most problematic for the rear camera, but even that is not so bad. If we had diagrams of what all is between the headliner and the roof of the vehicle (especially the routing of wiring bundles across the ceiling), it's possible you could insert a wire fish tool from the rear of the headliner and strategically snake a path to the front ceiling panel, add a pull string to it, pull out the fish tool, then use the pull string to get a relatively straight path for the rear camera cable from the front roof to rear roof. It would be more complicated if you have a sunroof since you'd need a path around it.

If you have a borescope with at least a 8-10 foot cable, that might be a way to try and navigate the maze of ceiling wires to get a more direct path for a rear camera cable pull string from front to back, rather than along the sides and tops of the pillars. I wish I had thought of that when I was installing my rear camera. You might even be able to insert a flexible plastic "conduit" from front to back, and that would give you an easy path to insert all manner of future cables from front to back, within the headliner.

Ive gotten lucky installing dashcams in line with the rearview mirror so theyre not in view from the drivers seat. Gonna transfer my blackvue 970x from my current car when my ORP shows up

I ordered a 2025 Limited which I am suppose to pick up after the 7/4 holiday. It was released from the QC at the Long Beach port after a 2 month wait. I am still driving my Gen 3 4Runner which I bought new in 1997. I had installed a front and rear camera from an installer that had many high reviews on Yelp about a year ago. The install was a nightmare. The guy cracked my rear interior side panel trying to hide the wire to the rear. He pulled the power from my tailgate for the rear back up camera. I had a rear back up camera installed too. I had two cameras installed in the rear. One for an accident camera and one for the back up camera. This was all for a new Sony touch screen radio and Apple car play unit install too. When he pulled the power from the tailgate the camera worked fine but the next day I noticed the rear window did not go down. He had to come back and take apart my tailgate to get my rear window to work. The guy said the crack was already in the panel which was a lie. I clean my car every week myself and I noticed it right away and the crack was right next to the wire. In conclusion I would highly advise taking pictures of the interior of your car and panels before any camera install and to check all electronics in your rear tail gate. I fixed the panel with five minute epoxy, a small bit of Bondo and wet sand paper. I got the paint color matched in a rattle can from an auto paint store and the repair still looks great after a year.

Were installed a BlackVue 970X in ours next week. We’ve owned them in the past and have the same one in our other vehicle.
