Some people are having discharge when sitting idle issue, some are happy to report no discharge. Since I do have this problem, I want to gather some stats before talking to the dealer. Maybe I will find a solution which I'm happy to share here.

this is a contentious subject.... cuz car may not show a lose after being idel for a decent amount of time, when you get in or start them...

HOWEVER, in my opinion, they car updates the battery state after being on/driven for a minute or two...
meaning, after letting the car sit for a week. when you get back in, the SoC could be the same way you left it...but when you get a mile or so down the road, is when you'll see that drop in charge/range.
It may not be a lot, 1 or 2%...but i think ppl's answer will depend on if they're paying any attention to SoC after they get on the road or only when they start it

Thanks for the above note. I just returned from exactly a week away. The entire time I was away, I checked my socc every day. It always said 79%. I got home turned on the car and it said 79%. I drove to the mailbox and back (about 8 blocks) and it said 74%.

Yes, I’d heard that. That’s the reason I was checking every day and was pleasantly surprised by (the illusion) that my charge wasn’t dropping. Won’t do that again.

Also, are we saying car is plugged in, or not? I'm guessing not?

There is another SOC drop mode too, that I had recently.

Plugged in to the EVSE. SOC reports as stable, no drop at all, for 12 days. On day 13, it drops by 12%+, triggering a charge from the EVSE when that's schedule allows.

One of 2 things could have happened here - a constant drop of 1% per day, but not reported in the app (I was in a different country), but the EVSE did not report any charging during this time. Or, it really did suddenly drop 12kw from 75%.

Now, this car does have the ability to dump SOC at various temperatures to preserve the battery, but 75% SOC in September in Seattle shouldn't trigger that. Of course, this part of the software might be buggy too!

Here's the Out of Spec video with the chart showing that storage >90 hours can possibly allow a discharge when plugged in - scan to 20:25

I went from 70% to 65% overnight after having been stable at 70% for a week sitting idle in the garage. Not plugged in

Is that 65% after you unlocked the car?

For me, the app doesn't report a change the SoC at all (at least for a couple of weeks) unless the car is unlocked - or maybe you use the app to change something, I haven't tried this.

Car is locked. But… my wife did unlock it yesterday evening to put our new registration card in the glove box… and I am not sure I checked the battery % after she did that, until today.

My checks are on the app only. Not in the car.

Yes, same with me but I only see a drop in the app (and in the car) AFTER the car has been unlocked.

Until the car is unlocked, the SoC in the app stays the same and then after the car is unlocked (you can lock it again straight away, the app then reports whatever SoC the car actually has.

My guess is the car puts its updates up to Porsche on hold after a period of being locked so the true SoC in the car is not reported.

Some dealers would say SoC drop is OK, car needs its parts to be running. I was thinking along those lines - OK, this is Porsche. Let's consider Cayenne or Panamera, pure combustion non-hybrid version. They have almost the same multimedia system, minus EV-related stuff and plus engine and gearbox controllers. Now about their electrical energy storage - what is the size of their starter battery? Even if 100Ah, this gives us 1.2 kWh. And they would start after sitting idle for a month, right? Then how can Macan lose 1 kWh per day to keep its electronics running if Cayenne and Panamera have only 1.2 kWh onboard?

Exactly, as long as the car properly shuts down all the EV stuff, the HV battery should be essentially unused for months on end of being left - no different to leaving an ICE car.

My wife's EV (Renault) has been left for 7 weeks and was the same SoC as before we left it.
