I still have a little time to research, so I want to make sure I go into the dealer with a good idea of price.

I have never bought an extended warranty before, but I am definitely planning on purchasing for this vehicle with it being a new gen and all that technology (I am getting a TRD Pro).

What prices are people getting for the Platinum 10yr/125k mi warranty?

Do I have to purchase the day I purchase the vehicle or can it be bought anytime before the factory warranty runs out?

Do I have to buy from the dealer I bought the car from, or can I “shop” around for the best price?

Is there any “marketplaces” (Facebook groups or anything like that) where dealers will advertise their pricing?

I generally am not good under pressure and I don’t want to “overpay” if I can get a better deal. Of note, I am also not planning on doing financing thru the dealer as their rates are not good. Planning on using navy fed. thanks in advance!

You can buy anytime before the 36/36,000 runs out.

typically 10/100 runsa round $1600 +/- 100-200

10/125 jumps up about 500-600 from there.

go find troy's website and go from there (and yes it looks whacked but its still a valid website)

https://fd-warranty.com/

but please DO NOT POST cost matrix in full on an open post/forum and tied to a toyota dealer/person.

toyota usa has in the past put bans on dealer/people from selling out of state in the past.

i know first hand when jerry got banned in the early 2010's by toyota usa

as long as its a toyota vsa, it applies to any toyota usa dealer. you just need the official booklet you will get from the person you buy it from. (just be mindful SET and GST have there own ext warranty plan since they fall out side toyota financial and they run a financial arm within each resepective region)

it will have a ink printed vin and model and in service date and duration in the booklet.

its not some flimsy piece of paper(s).

They didnt offer me that one but, i got one that is 7 years and supposedly covers tire damage, glass damage and chip repair on the paint, as well as all the other things typically covered. They told me $5,000. I told them absolutely not. Maybe the thought i was some gullible woman.....suddenly, he remembered a sale on the warranty that he could still get. Funny, the price dropped to $3,000, which was more in line with what one would expect.

So if I am East coast - I do not want to purchase from SET OR GST region?

Don't do it. You will be wasting your money. It's a Toyota, you're good.

SET/GST have their own warranty plans (which fall under that regions financial arm) which i am not sure are valid outside of SET/GST.

I tend to agree with you. For some makes, especially German cars, a VSA provides a healthy dose of comfort. The prices quoted in the other thread are not bad considering the coverage. You have until the 3 yr / 36K to decide, at which time you might have a good idea of how reliable the 6G is (especially the electronics)

Especially if the OP is planning to finance any portion of his vehicle along with an extended warranty. The interest rates offered now are not that great and paying interest on top of the cost of an extended warranty for one of the most reliable vehicles made, not a good financial decision in my view. Granted, this is a new generation and who knows what will happen, but I generally have faith in Toyota and if not, I would not have purchased my 2025 4Runner. OP, take the money and put it into a safe investment and if you need it for a repair of your 4Runner, you will be all set.

I am only financing approx 1/3 of the cost of the vehicle (mostly because I’m looking to buy a new house and I don’t want to deplete savings). The extended warranty would be paid in cash outside of financing.

I also think many of the repairs on these items would be way more in cost than the price of the warranty and I generally keep my vehicles approx 10 years.

if you can, never finance a toyota vsa into your auto loan.

if you do and canx it, the amount is refunded to your loan, not directly to you.

if you pay for it directly if you decide to canx it, it is pro-rated back to you based on yrs/mileage not used.

then if you need to, you can roll the refund into your next vsa

Exactly, I would not finance a warranty. Just want to make sure I have a ballpark to know what I’m paying is reasonable.
I’m already putting a substantial cash down payment.
