lol why is there a mpg thread for the hybrid?

toyota has never promoted the BoF hybrid system as improving mpg (either on the tundra, seqouia, LC250, taco or the 4R.

its only purpose it to provide more power for moving from a standstill or improve towing period.

lol back. I’m at 17 mpg and my expectation based on what Toyota claims is, “i-Force MAX hybrid, which comes standard with 4WD, is rated at 23 mpg city / 24 highway / 23mpg.”
My earlier generation 4Runner and Tacoma both got this mpg and better, but I bought a hybrid and expected to get in the low 20’s. Buyers at the lower model levels still have the option of buying all gas engines or paying more for the hybrid. If they’re buying a hybrid just for the additional power and they know it, then fine. If they’re buying a hybrid because they think the mpg will be a little better, then they’ll be let down and could’ve save some money ($10,000)if they’re buying all gas. Now on the flip side, I love everything thing else about my TRD Pro, I’m just disappointed with the real world mpg vs what is advertised.
There is also such a thing about false advertising, but let’s just say Toyota is just “embellishing “ on their mpg figures.

:(
the gas/non-hybrid thread seems to be doing well with their figures... even beating it at times with the 27-28mpg hwy only

I'd love to figure out how to get at least 20mpg because I'm really trying

Ive never found the computer in most vehicles to be particularly accurate. I've always used APPs like Fuelly and go based on actual consumption, etc.

Once we get the 4Runner and have a few Refuels under the belt, I can post results.

lol its a good thing we dont care about mpg, either the wife and her 23 tundra or me in my 14 4R. i only track it for geez whiz entertainment.

we dont even get close to the city or highway mpg on the tundra and i barely get the highway mpg on my 14 4R thats only cause i mostly do 75 mph to/from work 4 days a week and barely any city driving.

1st pic is the 14 4R
2nd pic is the 23 tundra,

Wow, cool data. I also own a boat with triple Yamaha 300's, but I prefer not to discuss the MPG or per hour usage. It is what it is and I enjoy my boat!!

during winter the mpg tanks big time since we remote start so much during dec-feb, jan-feb usually we hit our deep cold snaps of -10F to -30F for days/weeks at times.

remote starting for 10-20 min in the morning and the afternoons each day for 5 days usually drops the tundra's mpg down into the high to mid single digits during the cold months. you can see that by looking at the min mpg, those are the cold snaps using remote start.

its the price to pay for having a remote start and living in ND. if you cant stand the costs, dont live here or freeze your butt off without remote start.

What's wrong with having a thread in which to share numbers? Clearly the data can help clear up misconceptions, since there are new buyers on here who believe the word Hybrid should have necessary connotations as to mpg

that is what fuelly is for.

my app feeds directly into my fuelly account

i have stats all the way back to my 2010 vehicle

and dont use my stats, my numbers are always below avg. its a combo of 99% constant wind and crap gas.

i dont get window sticker mpg on any vehicle unless i leave ND. its the stupid constant wind in this state that kills mpg. once i leave ND i get 19-21 mpg on my 14 4Runner when i travel to ATL to see my mom (1700 miles 1 way)

Just hit 1000 miles today.

1st tank averaging 16.2
2nd tank averaging 16.7
3rd tank: averaging 18.2
but all alot of stop and go, short trips on hgwy. Mix of Normal and Sport mode

Needed to make a 2 hr. jot up the hgwy. for work today so I refilled and reset odo and it came out to 25.5 mpg. just hgwy driving. All Normal mode
Came home the back way which is a mix of small hgwy and rural and it dropped to around 19 by the time I got back to the shop.

For all the benefits of this truck, I can easily live with these numbers.

Other than the oversized steering wheel, I'm lovin' it...

Thanks for the report, I just picked up a TH last night : 75 miles in and 18.9mpg so far. Going really easy on the pedals. I'll report later.
