As some of the others have mentioned, full specs are not known. Still holding on to my reservation and towing is not a dealbreaker for me.

I’m so sorry that I offended you by dropping our reservations because Scout lied about the towing capacity of it (Scout’s engineers always knew they couldn’t do it!). I truly never meant to offend anyone’s feelings. I am sorry. But if you go back and reread what I posted, you will see that I left the door open for what you’re saying doesn’t exist. We know it doesn’t exist. That’s why we canceled our reservations. Using the Scout brand that had a removable roof, and then getting upset that the new Scout doesn’t have a removable roof, is a normal emotion. I don’t understand why this upset you. Why didn’t they just call the brand something else then? Don’t use the Scout brand and then get upset with me that it doesn’t look and function like a Scout! I’m hoping that by the 2030s, Scout will have this removable roof feature, can tow a lot for a long range and that looks retro. Again, I never meant to hurt anyone’s feelings. I’m sure you will love your new Scout EV when you get it! Again, I sincerely apologize for hurting your feelings.

BTW, the vehicle that we went and put a deposit down on is not an EV. So no, I did not get tired of waiting and go buy a Rivian. You are wrong again. And the ball IS in Scout’s court for them to make what their customer wants to buy. It’s impossible for the ball to be in my hands! I am not an executive at Scout making business decisions!

Lastly, I am not in a “huff” and took my “marbles” and went home. I’m excited about the vehicle that we’re getting in two months. I’m also excited that there’s a possibility that in the 2030s, Scout might have what we are wanting to buy.
I never saw a quote that the Traveler might tow 10k. I thought it was from release day, but the first specs I saw were for 7k and 10k. I also don't remember any deviation from starting under $60k, and possibly low $50s with a rebate. It isn't under their control that the rebate is likely gone by then.

I think saying they lied is inappropriately harsh. They haven't released final specs. They've said each time this is intended specs and design study vehicles. They built it as an EV and added the Harvester fairly last minute with a very unique design requiring novel engineering. They may have had suspicions they'd have an issue with Harvester towing but I doubt they felt confident enough before to announce it. Better to wait to announce something even if it needs a little more nuance later, then having to walk it back completely.

I'm one of the people who never took the top off of my Traveler so don't care about that feature. Though I know there are probably a lot of conflicting opinions like the frunk. I'm not sure I'd want a drop top on a very heavy vehicle that can tow 7-10k.

I did not cancel my order. Since we are sharing. Could not be more excited!!
Me Too! This Scout cannot be all things to all people. And I think towing is not the primary intent of this vehicle. If you need towing, I understand, there are much better options out there.

lol we might come back. We left that door open. I’m thinking that in the 2030s they might have what we’re looking for.
True enough. Who knows what‘s 2/5/10 years down the road. My initial resistance to EV’s has been the dearth of DC fast charging stations, and what I thought was hugely expensive home charging set-up.

Now that I’m beginning to research this…. I’m warming to the idea of some form of EV.

You all tow some big boats! I have a 23' Hurricane deck boat, weight is below 3,500 lbs, well within Harvester's capacity. Sure range will dip but mileage drops towing in an ICE vehicle.

The more people cancel their reservation based on disappointment of a possible future issue, the faster we get ours. I am fairly certain they will up the towing. I have a small camper by my F-150 tows it without straining but the 4Runner wasn't so happy. But since I don't need this hundred so badly, I'll wait and see.

I'm happy with a 5k tow. If the rear axles on air bags can self stabilize with people, gear and trailer load without a WDH. That said a WDH compatible with the traveler might be a good thing?

As I now plan to sell our class A and purchase a smaller TT I am good with 5K of towing, many nice smaller TT’s well under that weight. We are now finished with coast to coast RV trips and just plan to fully explore the western states more throughly.

Depends, if it sits level on level ground then I don't use a WDH*.
Some states require it under certain spec and conditions. The WDH also soaks up some potential to sway and the entire rigs brakes work more effectively if level, believe me that is experience talking.

Tandem axel trailer essential for reasons too numerous to list.**

* Weight Distribution Hitch.
** A term I got from the Ford Brochure when my mom ordered a new Mustang. "Options too numerous to list."

I really don't see this vehicle like this as a great platform for hard core towing. Was the old legacy scout used in that way???

What's the percentage of buyers who this effects and what percentage of buyers will never off road. The mass market of Scout will be driven on asphalt so the 10,000 llb towing need segment need to keep their old Duelly's and buy a scout for picnics
