I didn’t find much searching for this feature so I’m bringing it up here. I know that supposedly it’s not going to be available on the Terra… but it absolutely needs to be done, IMHO. I reserved the Harvester option, and I can’t envision a 35” spare in a 5.5 foot bed. Meaning it steals limited loading space.

I agree it’s a must!

Liking every comment because this absolutely needs more visibility. Seems the Terra is getting the red-headed step-child treatment.

Yeah I would also like something like that.

Would be cool to see some creative ideas for how though.

Don't want to make it impossible to open the tailgate in a garage with a swinging hinge spare.

Rivian is near perfect with the enclosed bed tire storage.

Again would be cool to see a original oversized spare storage option from Scout.

Good point about the garage. I guess my primary desire is it doesn’t sit in the bed, instead of stuff I want to carry.

Maybe a split tailgate design like Dodge or Ford would help this?

It would be cool to have under bed storage and a spare off the back tailgate in the Terra.

Maybe a turning style like a tailgate mount that is rotated clock wise moving the tire from a 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock position with the rotation point being the low right passenger side corner just outside the tail bed opening.

This is cool, but again a rotating one wouldn't increase the overall length when open and allow for use in smaller areas.

You can have it!

OK, I don't really mean that. It's great the Harvester has a full-size spare mounted where it will almost certainly be accessible when needed, and doesn't compromise ground clearance or approach/departure angles.

My complaint is with the plastic froo-froo branding on the tailgate mount. It unneccessarily adds a couple critical inches to the overlength of the Harvester. The Harvester won't fit in many older garages (like mine). Scout could have saved several inches and just mounted the spare directly to the tailgate. Honda did this with their old CRVs, and Bronco does it. Put corporate branding on a cover and it's all done.

I’m thinking radical. A utility track system similiar to Nissan Titan and a combination hinge with slide feature the with multiple locations; tilted up at back window, center of bed and at tailgate. The Chinese likely already got something in the works.

Let me preface this with... I 100% agree that I would love for Scout to have an OEM swingout option for the Terra, BUT the aftermarket already has really nice solutions that are still tow rated.

I own the Rig'd UltraSwing Mega-Fit and it's phenomenal. It's modular for accessories and carries up to a 40" tire. I like the fact that it's transferrable to other vehicles as well.

Good to know. I just like the look of the rig on the Traveler, that’s all.

Very cool!

I would love a solution that rotates (like 9 o'clock to 1 o'clock) to clear the tailgate but not make the length ridiculous so you can open the tailgate and tire hitch in a closed garage.
