Quick question—does anyone know if there's a way to keep SPORT mode engaged automatically, the same way ECO mode stays on between drives? I'm trying to avoid having to manually activate it each time.

I don't believe there's a way to do that from standard controls (maybe some OBD tool has a way to set it and override the default behavior).

I haven't used sport mode much. Would you mind describing what you like about it compared to other modes that would lead you to want it on 100% of the time?

Thanks for the info—that’s kind of what I figured, but I was hoping there was a hidden setting somewhere! I even checked using the CARISTA OBD tool, but no luck.

As for SPORT mode, I really enjoy the extra throttle response and tighter steering feel. It makes the car feel more alive and responsive, especially during highway merges or when passing other cars. I know it’s not great for fuel efficiency, but the driving experience is so much more engaging. If I could keep that feeling most of the time, I definitely would!

Are you able to change the engine noise from sport mode using Carista so its on for Normal/Eco mode?

The dealer might have access to alot more option to change than carista, which is limited right now.

My guess would be no. That’s the same situation in the Toyota GR Corolla. A high performance car that should be in sport by default resets to normal every time the vehicle is started. Except for when you are in Eco, then the GR Corolla also will start in Eco mode. Also good look getting the custom gauge setting to stay saved if you want the tire pressure gauge to be displayed under your custom gauge settings.

My 4runner defaults to "normal mode" every drive. The "Sport Mode" adds a little more exhaust note, which I like. Watch your wheel spin in tow haul or sport, especially pulling out in traffic with wet roads from a dead stop.

it will stay in eco mode after ignition off if set to eco

it will stay in normal mode after ignition off if set to normal

all other modes have to be manually set after ignition off and the system will default to normal mode after ignition off if the mode is changed to anything but eco/normal after ignition on

My limited will stay in comfort mode or eco. If I use sport or sport+ it defaults back to normal

custom mode you can set the following :

1. trans shift points (holds gears longer), normal or sport or eco
2. shocks stiffens (if you have avs), normal or sport

3. you actually cant set the steering per se but it can either be normal or heavy depending on #1 setting

on our tundra i set custom to

1. trans shift points to sport (sport mode will set the steering to heavy)
2. shocks (normal)

Has anyone else noticed (for Limited or Platinum) that when you use "sport" for drivetrain in custom drive mode, it has a much rougher shift vs. the car in regular sports mode?
