Just came across this video.
The reviewer gives a lot of helpful dimensions.

Lower than I expected. Everything I’ve seen in the Grapevine area is 100+
No dealer markups and no nefarious add ons. It helps that this is the 9th Lexus I have purchased from the dealership.

Congrats on your decision - its a beautiful vehicle! I'm starting to consider the same. I did have my heart set on a 2025 4Runner TRD Pro, but question whether I'm too locked in on that idea. Price is a factor for me, but it is not the #1 factor, and 90%+ of my use will be on-road. I just like the look of the TRD Pro and I also like having the capabilities in those rare situations where it might be truly needed.

Looks aside, one aspect of the GX Overtrail that I have struggled with is the gas mileage and actually taking a step back from where I am today on my 2011 4Runner (probably around 19 mpg overall). I bought my 4Runner new and have kept for 14 yrs, its hard for me to think about getting less mpgs for the next 12+ years (I buy and keep!). That said, I totally hear you on the after-sale experience and quality of materials. That is a something for me.

As the proud new owner of the Overtrail+ What has your experience been with gas mileage and any advice you would give based on your early experience?

Maybe I should look at the TRD Off Road Premium. I guess what I am struggling with is $70K for an Off Road Pro (give or take) + likely wanting to pay extra to have someone wrap or replace the gloss black fender flares. So you end up with over $70k in it (assuming no mark-ups, which I refuse to pay) and just the fit and finish of the interior feels more like a $55k truck, from what I have seen.

I am guessing based on your username, we are in a similar demographic (55+ years old) and it is hard to get my head around $70k+ for a 10-15 year keeper and what will my mindset be in 5 yrs when I am 60+ years old and will some of the nagging things about the quality of interior materials in the 4Runner start to be more annoying.

I counterbalance that with -- I have a real hard time with the ~$80k price tag of the GX and I'm also concerned about the double whammy of gas mileage + premium fuel puts the cost of ownership at a high level for a person who is hoping to retire soon and use it for lots of road trips and off-road trips.

Thanks for posting the video, I'll check it out.

Looking at the online reviews and looking at the spec sheet for the 4runner, I agree that the best value seems to be the Off Road or Off Road Premium trims. They really seems to have everything one needs. Beyond that price point, once you get over $65k, one may as well just shell it out and jump to the GX550 OT and be done with it.

Not to hijack the thread, but have you considered the new Land Cruiser? If so, what are your thoughts?

I agree with your assessment.

I sat in the new Land Cruiser a few weeks ago, and for some reason, it just did not "feel and look like a Land Cruiser." For comparison I'm looking at trading in my 09 LX570 (essentially a suited up LC), and the new LC didn't feel right, felt like a downgrade from my LX, even though it's 16 years old.

Though from the rear side view, the new LC looks similar to the new GX550, something felt odd about the new LC, not sure if it's the funky cartoonish exterior look or excessive plastic interior. The new 4Runner seems more muscular and for some reason, at least based on the videos I've seen, I like the 4R's interior better than the LC.

The new GX definitely has a luxurious presence while 6th G R4unner has an aggressive modern yet traditional 4R look; the new LC, not sure what is conveying. Question is whether one feels the new GX is worth the extra $$

First world problems...
