Was a total lurker until today when I finally picked mine up.
Put down deposit in April 9th.
Finally took delivery today.
Trailhunter in underground, zero ragrets.
Initial thoughts-
- Snorkel noise is loud. Didn't expect it to be so loud.
- Really gets up and moves, more than I expected.
- Connecting the app is a super pain, still don't have it figured out yet.
- I wasn't sure how I would mount the front plate but my dealer installed their plate by drilling into the front bumper. I'm not sure if that's how it's 'supposed' to be done but that's how they did it. No idea if there were already holes or the locations pre-marked. In retrospect I should have told them to not do anything. *Edit/update: I checked the picture I took of the vehicle in the lot when I pulled up before their PDI. Nothing on the bumper, no holes, etc. Now I'm kinda annoyed they just drilled into it without checking. 'Especially' because the only thing they installed was their dealer advertising plate... It's not like they installed my state-issued license plate...
- Bought and installed the Toyota dash Cam myself. Oddly the template put the base on the wrong place so I had to unstick it and move it. If I knew that ahead of time I would have mocked it up in the ideal location 'then' stuck it.
- Center console is very small. Coming from a Jeep JL I was a bit surprised how shallow and small it is.
- I love that there is storage behind the hybrid battery, and was super surprised to find additional storage in FRONT of the hybrid battery. Put the rear seats down and there it was, a panel you could remove to access additional storage. Sorry no pics.
- There's not a lot of room under the front seats. Purchased a Vaultek Lifepod 1.0 biometric and it barely fits under the passenger seat (wouldn't fit under the driver's seat)
- Trunk feels huge, especially coming from a Jeep JLU.
- Installed a few things: Toyota dash Cam, redline Hood lifts (highly recommend, shocked you need to buy aftermarket on a car this expensive), OffRoam phone mount w/magsafe charger, screen protector, muslogy dashboard storage box (highly recommend). Still need to sort out how/where to mount a rear facing dash Cam (like in the trunk /attached to rear window).
- Did not realize the steering wheel adjustment is motorized.
- Didn't not realize when you shut the car off and open the door the steering wheel raises and the power seat slides back. It actually got annoying with all the tinkering I was trying to do but I think on an everyday 'just getting in and out' basis it'll be great
- Wanted the dealer to program my fob to open all the windows. Was quoted $100. For a vehicle over $70k that I waited two months for I was taken aback at the quote. Declined, figuring I'd order the Carista and do it myself.
- Don't understand why my phone inconsistently connects enabling Android Auto vs. just as a paired device for calls. My wife has a '23 Highlander and we've both noticed that connecting phones & app is janky. The Toyota app connected ONCE today. And keeps showing me a notification that it's ready to connect but never does.
- I hope someone comes up with a workaround to allow you to power the lightbar with just the switch regardless of headlight status. My understanding is it can only be powered when high beams are on. I suppose worst case I could manually connect its wiring to one of the aux switches.
- Full size spare matches the other 4 wheels which I like to be able to do a 5-wheel tire rotation.
- All in all I freaking love it and it was worth the wait.
Feel free to ask questions.
