Thanks for your reply! There isn’t anything in particular that I dislike about my 2023 Limited other than it doesn’t have the power lift gate. I have issues with my right shoulder so sometimes it’s a little painful when I go to close it. As far as “ penalties “ I guess the worst that would happen is I would lose my 500.00 deposit. Not crazy at all about that idea but what can you do? I’ve also tussled with the idea of just paying the 10,000 in cash and be done with it but that scares me because I am on a very fixed income. But yes, it would save me on all of that interest incurred from a loan. I’m just struggling with this: I love the looks and technology of the 2025 but I also love the reliability of my 2023 ( and it’s paid

Thanks for your response!So I have been retired for one year now. I’ve had my 2023 Limited since 11/23. I’m just loving the looks and technology of the 2025 plus I drive on the beach so I am confident that a TRD ORP would be more than sufficient. I will say that my 2023 handles the soft sand just fine. When I went to look at the 2025’s I didn’t have the intention of buying and I made that clear to the sales manager. He made me a very attractive offer for mine ( 50,000) so essentially I wouldn’t be losing any money on the trade. With the 2025 Runner I love the technology and the peppy motor and how improved the steering is compared to mine. When I signed the contract I felt confident in my decision but since the new runner isn’t there yet I’ve had time to really think so that is where I’m at.

When you drive the new one I am confident that you will bring it home. I saw a black Trailhunter on a local dealer’s lot yesterday and man I thought long and hard about it. I actually got a difference figure from them but we were too far apart. It would be hard to spend another 12K after just doling out 60. I guess my point is that once you drive the new generation that your mind will be made up 100%.

Just my 2 cents if I was in your position, which I'm not: I had a fully paid for 2016 Tundra Limited with only 60K miles. Lots of MOD's and I loved that truck. Had ZERO issues with it. Sold our camper and wanted to downsize vehicles. Never owed a 4Runner but have always had a Toyota. Bought the 2025 TRD Pro and with only 400 miles on it so far, am loving it!! All this said - I would wait at least 2 years on the 4Runner. Why? A great comparison would be this: Bought my wife the new Acura TLX Type S as soon as the first gen debuted in 2022. She loved that car. Again, similar to me, she has only ever owned Acura (no problems with those vehicles whatsoever). Our lease came up 2 months ago, went and bought a 2025 TLX Type S. Same car, same color, etc. And wow!!! Handling, tech upgrades, so much quieter on the road, etc. I think no matter what vehicle a company rolls out, if it's a first gen., it takes a couple years to work all the bugs out. I love my TRD Pro don't get me wrong but there are several things that I can bet Toyota is going to fix, tighten up over the next few years to make these 6th gen's really stand out as being superb vehicles. So according to the dealerships website my new TRD ORP has arrived. Nobody has called me yet but I’m sure they will be soon. I’m feeling super nervous about following through with this purchase. I currently have a paid in full 2023 4Runner Limited. It’s been good to me so far. It has a little over 25,000 miles on it. I’m fully aware of all of the upgrades with the new 4Runner and I would only be borrowing about 10,000 for it. Payments wouldn’t be a big deal even though I’m retired. Just not sure if I should stick with what I know or do I go ahead and get the new one. Any of you been in this dilemma?

YES. I was just there! I had a fully tricked ORP in Everest being delivered that I wanted to replace my 2020 Limited Nightshade with. When I looked closely, the ORP was too plastic for me without any soft touch on the driver or passenger window sills. I changed directions on the spot and went to another dealer who just received a Platinum in Heritage Blue. I bought it on the spot, and it is the best 4Runner I have ever driven or owned. I have owned 4Runners since 1988. And, my Platinum has the ARB roof rack that I now have come to appreciate the versatility of it. The MSRP was approx. 68K and no dealer market adjustment or forced add-ons. Out the door for approx 77K.

All that said, 100% worth it!!!

I can sure relate to the OP. I'm ready for a change after 9 years with my 2016 SR5 but on the other hand I still love it as much as ever and with under 80,000 miles I think it will still be more reliable over the next 5-10 years than any new vehicle I could buy. So for me the concern is not the money so much as worrying that a new vehicle could be disappointing and make me regret selling my 5th gen.

On the other hand, if you worked hard your whole life and are enjoying a comfortable retirement, nothing wrong with treating yourself to a new toy.

You won't regret the 6th Gen, it is a fantastic vehicle. The difference in power and handling is extreme.
