So looking at pictures of the prototype interiors, the 4Runner definitely will not be able to install the compressor as an accessory. For the Tacoma there is a DC/USB power supply in the slot the air compressor occupies on non-trailhunter trims. The 4Runner has a specifically designed interior for it. One could probably make it happen with enough work, but it would not be a small task.

Here is the trailhunter and limited rear cargo areas:

I know this is a really old post I'm quoting but wanted to reference these photos when posting the ones I took of my ORP. I really like the idea of having the air compressor integrated - and I hate that I appear to have an empty spot where it could go but cannot find any details about the part. Photos below show the storage area/hybrid battery vent on my ORP. There appears to be a white connector where the compressor assembly would plug in - and there seems to be space for the compressor behind the hybrid vent pipe.

The photos from Nodak and write-up from Spike here are also helpful:
Subwoofer on different cargo area sides in different trims?
I trust the part numbers that Spike references above, and can find dealers who will sell it (online), but cannot find any details about installation: WILL I need to (carefully) cut a hole in the plastic? Does the kit come with template for the hole, hardware and trim pieces to make it match trailhunter installation? Can anyone find the installation instructions?
Thanks for any help that can be provided. I'm not inclined to spend the $$ until I know what I'll be getting.

Nope. But you MUST also be tracking this other thread where I'm trying another tack - asking the company that makes the compressor. See my last thread there. Will try to remember to update if NSV gets back to me. integrated compressor install
And someday someone is going to figure this out. My bet is on Corey who started this related thr: TH compressor part#
thanks....yes, I am tracking and I also stumbled across the Tacoma discussion. I definitely have a blank space in the back in my TRD ORP....I have also talked to my Toyota dealer about this and they are doing research too. These are the part numbers listed in the tacoma thread:
  • PT949-89240-AB
  • PT949-35240-AC
  • PT949-35240-AD

After months of research, these are the 2 Part #s that I am 99% certain are what we need.

Thanks Corey - I think you are right. If only I could find an official Toyota installation guide to go with these PNs.
4RUNH Obtrifr Kit - Toyota (PT949-89241) - MSRP $1475 (on line at <$1200)
4RUN Compressor On B - Toyota (PT949-89240-AB) - MSRP $697.10 (on line at <<$500)

So do you think the first one is the actual compressor (with hoses?) and the second is the control panel and trim??

I'm still planning to go down this path but in the near term am looking forward to receiving my prize for the Wolfbox "mud" competition: jumpstarter tire inflator. It looks to have decent flow rate (1.6 cf/min) so hope its a reasonable temporary replacement for the integrated compressor I will get at some point. (I bought a portable Slime inflator for my last offroad excursion that had similar flow rate and worked fine on 3 tires and then failed completely so it got returned)

Looking forward to hearing about a successful installation into TRD OR of the TH inflator!
Thanks again.
