Paint Defect On Bottom of Doors - Orange Peel Texture

I recently noticed the lower eight inches of my doors have a non-smooth "orange peel" texture to the paint. Anyone else have this paint defect?

I believe this normal. I have this on mine as well and it’s not a defect. A factory intended design feature to provide an extra protection against rock chips.

not a defect... on Toyota Trucks its something like 7 layers of paint to help protect against rocks.

Yup! normal thick coat for protection but you’re not the first person asked this question and you won’t be the last. I think we all found this out the same way, and it was a WTF moment. Lol

Yes it’s normal. My 3rd, 4th, and 5th all had it.

It's a rubberized coating to protect from rock chips. Have done it decades
