Nodak, to repeat myself yet again, seriously, I appreciate you for posting this information. It is informative, it is of great interest, and it is information that is unavailable to the general public via resources like a Google search.

I have been driving a 4Runner as a daily driver for 38 years, and I find this distribution and production number information on the first year of the new generation and models absolutely fascinating.

Thank you, and look forward to your next post!

Does anyone have an explanation for the discounts being shown on the allocation list of dealers today with current inventory or soon to arrive 4runners? Looking at it a little closer the 4runner in possible build phase with a factory to port date of October to November are not discounted.

i cant take credit for someone else product, i just format the data into something more usable.

here is the thread with the raw excel file that i pull the data from. there is one for hybrids and non-hybrids

discounts are not set by toyota, they are set by the dealer. toyota doesnt offer discounts so to speak. all they offer is rebates for a model/trim or lease incentives.

Discounts on Platinum's are rare but they are happening and its all at each dealers discretion. If the truck makes it to their lot without being presold you have a better chance but most of these have deposits on them before they arrive. (Also just FYI, having called 47384783 dealers from the spreadsheet, just cause it shows as available doesn't mean its not presold. I found a lot of the ones that say they are not presold are in fact presold, the dealer has just not marked it as such online.)

The real problem is how Toyota guestimates demand. Clearly they assume that men will buy a lot more of them and are going to want something more off-road. Both the limited and platinum are designed for the road. It's the same problem with exterior colors. Toyota assumes nobody wants red. Not just the the platinum trim but red (one of a coupe of colors) in general.

Discounts on 4Runners have always been somewhat "rare". Notice how the zero finance and big Toyotathon promotions never include the 4Runner model. The current shortage of 4Runners is due to the delayed production start on the new 6th-generation.

The 4Runner has always been a vehicle designed to have the ability to go off-road. All nine trims currently have this common feature; it is what a 4Runner is. Some have enhanced off-road capability, some have enhanced comfort. All of them are suitable for insane modification to meet an individual's needs.

The 4Runner has always been costly relative to the year of production. I remember in '86 seeing a 4Runner that cost several thousand dollars and thought, It's beautiful, functional, and desirable, but that no one except the super rich could ever afford a toy like that.

That said, I never dreamed that having a 2025 Heritage Blue Platinum 4Runner in mid-August in CA. was akin to having a pet Unicorn. This too shall pass.

Wasn't local, about 3hrs from me but was the closest one I've found with the power running boards. There was one allocation closer w/o them. I was close to buying the one that's on the lot out in CA right now and having it shipped!

well it finally happened. my allocation reserve request was finally filled. expected delivery date of 6-nov-25. shows as a 2025 MY but at this point its so close to change over to 26 MY it may come as a 26.

funny part, the other one is being pre-sold to my co-worker who is trading his 23 tundra for a 4R, but he is still keeping his 5th gen tundra.

all my FIO and PIO options i requested on the build sheet was picked up, but one item looks weird, it shows a liftgate led but on the build sheet its not marked as that. will have to check with the sales manager to verify its not the TL option (tailgate led) but it should be 43 option (d-pillar lights)

i attached my allocation reserve request screenshots at the end

in the end i will put a full post from start to finish of the whole buying experience in this sub forum
