I see debates in this forum about the purpose of the air damn. This poll is not about the purpose of the air dam but instead, a very simple question about the aesthetics. I saw that someone posted that "most people think the air dam is hideous," so I became curious. Maybe he is right, maybe he is wrong. We'll see.

I should point out that I have an advanced degree in Data Analytics from BIT and I will be able to draw an inference with a very high degree of confidence based on algorithms I've developed to determine the majority of responses to a two-answer option query. I've almost completed my dissertation on this very subject matter (data analytics) at the Bullshit Institute of Technology, but I had to drop out because my Pell Grant was reduced and I got laid off from my work study position at the college.

Even if someone thinks it's hideous, or a majority of people think that, doesn't change the fact that it's just plain ignorant and rude to just be like "well we all think it's hideous so you people are just wrong if you like it".

That's not how personal tastes work, and it's impolite to essentially be like "well i dont care what you like, you are wrong because i think it's ugly". Surely most civil people understand that that isn't how polite people communicate.

A lot of people mod their cars in ways which I don't find attractive/appealing, but I dont go out of my way to let them know that I think their tastes suck, I just move on with my life because I understand that to them, they like it, and that's all that matters, and also it's a pretty dick move to say that kind of thing to someone about something they enjoy.

If it weren't for the screws falling off or coming loose this would not even be an issue. Most would just leave it on. Those that do a lot of off roading may be inclined to remove it for more clearance but that would be the only reason for removal.

"Hideous" seems a bit strong, but perhaps that is how some see it! Not me, it does not bother me a bit. I plan to leave it on unless I am off-road where it might get in the way, then I will take it off when I get on the trail and reinstall it when I get back off.

Might I suggest a third, more ‘neutral’, option to allow those of us who don’t feel so strongly about it.
Either you feel it is hideous or you don't, for this poll, its a binary choice. Of course, in real life there are probably a million different feelings, OK, maybe five, but still, for this poll, either hideous or not.

The first thing I did when I got home from the dealer was I took it off and threw it in my recycle can since it's plastic.

I feel it is not appropriate for a Toyota 4Runner. A front spoiler would look better on a sports car. Even if a 4Runner is used to go skiing vs rock and trail driving it is low enough to be damaged from a snow bank or trying to park near a snow bank. That is my purpose for buying another 4Runner. I do like to snow ski. I will be taking mine off when I pick up my new Limited. I have owned my Gen 3 4Runner for 28 years now and I have a lot of experience driving in all types of snow conditions.

I had the 2018 TRD sport Tacoma prior to the 4Runner - hated the air dam the entire time I had the vehicle. Made sure to never have that again.
