Has anyone upgraded the rear view mirror in their SR5 to a digital one? Is this possible to have done at the dealership?!
I already have my 4Runner but kind of regret not getting that part

I saw it during the test drive. It looked pretty cool, but might be a distraction at night.

It would be pretty big job for dealer to put that in on the sr5 if it's even possible. Needs wiring/head unit/drill the hatch/camara/etc.

Try the after market ones like wolfbox might be easier.

I wanted the brake controller, but was not critical and I took an available model that had everything I wanted minus that and the skid plates (which I can easily add later). Not sure even if I will need the brake controller, but might in the future. I was not aware of the digital mirror until after I got mine, that does sound like a nice feature (I have big dogs that can easily block my rear view!). Isn't it also a "regular" mirror and only digital if you turn that on?

I have the off road premium, and was wondering if the brake controller and digital mirror (or separately, for that matter) could be added later. A dealer said no, but I don't know if that is really true. It would be nice if it is possible, assuming at least if it is not exorbitantly expensive (at least much more exorbitant as it would have been from the factory!). The manual specifically says not to use aftermarket brake controllers--which is a lame suggestion if you cannot get theirs added later!

There are aftermarket ones, but I doubt the OEM one will be available to be added, and or if it can, at a reasonable cost.

It's actually great at night as it can filter out headlight glare.

I had a wolfbox ($150 installation) put in instead and its awesome. Can also adjust the brightness at night with a simple swipe.

I wouldnt be surprised if the Offroad and above already have all of the wire harnesses needed for digital camera and brake controller and all you need is the rest of the parts.
I doubt the SR5 has the harnesses though. Unless the digital camera is an option on the SR5?

The SR5 has the wiring for power. I think you’ll need to use a Dongar Pro type adapter to get the power to your DashCam type mirror tho. I have the OEM DashCam connected to it, so maybe need a splitter.

Power isnt the issue. It is the camera it uses that is the issue

My dealer installed a Redarc trailer brake controller on my '25 off-road (vanilla, not off-road pro). $670 installed, works great. Page 429 of the manual says: "Use of a third-party trailer brake controller along with the Toyota Genuine Trailer Brake Controller [...] is not recommended". Well, my vehicle doesn't have a Toyota Genuine Brake controller, why would I want another one if I already had one???

a few months back someone took apart the back hatch and the SR5 does not have the cut out in it for the camera.

Ahhh...I missed the "...along with..." part! Yeah, that makes sense (and, as you suggest, seems silly to state).

Fortunately I have a good brake controller from my old Tahoe I can use if needed. The Wolfbox mirror mentioned here looks really interesting...anyone know how it compares to the Toyota one (mostly curious, as it does not seem that I could get the Toyota one now)?

No harnesses on my vanilla off-road. The service dept. told me they thought it had them but it turned out it did not. They were nice enough to install at the quoted price, but it took an extra hour or two of labor to install the brake controller.

Wow. That seems very strange. So they install an entirely different wiring harness on a unit that wont have the brake controller installed? That seems horrendously inefficient. Especially for Toyota.
