I have to admit.. it does seem “extra cozy” - the the light gray headliner in my 22 did make it feel more open.. also, for some reason it has more contours then the 22. Doing away with the “oh s#!+“ no grab bars came as a surprise too
imho the console side grab handle is infinitely more useful than a random A-pillar handle, in any vehicle

but I might be biased as to height and arm length

Part of the reason why it feels like a cave inside is because the headliner is now black. It has been gray since way back when I had a 4th Gen. I'm 6'2" and I felt claustrophobic inside. FWIW - I can't see over the hood either. They totally changed the windshield. It feels smaller from top to bottom and the slope feels different. It took me a little time to get used to the limited view.

Wondering if you might consider a "purple" brand seat cushion. Seriously, I bought one of these for my desk chair. They are insanely comfortable and it might give you enough lift to see over the hood.

You can always go to a recommended interior shop in your area and replace the headliner with a different color. I know that was not what you wanted to do after buying a new car but it will solve the problem for you. With my Gen 3 4Runner I replaced the foam in my drivers seat and the seat was so much more comfortable. My car comes in May. I will have to see how the Limited seats fit me. I am 5'9" 170. The Limited hood seems to be lower than the other trims too. I wish Toyota did a better job at market research before coming out with the new design. The thing that really bothered me with the Gen 6 cars is the back area does not lay flat anymore with the back seats folded up. Many like the 4Runner to car camp in and want a flat bed to lay down a pad and sleeping bag. I see some companies are starting to design a fix for that with a platform. I have recommended the Audi Q5 to others for a comfortable SUV. It is not a 4 Runner but the Audi is a comfortable ride.

The claustrophobic cabin is a real concern for many traditional 4Runner buyers. I’ll bet half of the previous gen were bought by women. Many not all that tall. The 2025 is more like a truck inside. It’s a Tacoma SUV. Not a bad thing…just what it is .

My wife’s not a fan of the BLACK headliner either. For some reason they really contoured the headliner behind the sun roof.. my other 4Runners didn’t hang so low into the cabin.

Is yours a 7 seat Limited? 3 row seems to be the only way to get an almost-flat cargo area with the 2nd row folded down. Hybrid doesn't do it and 2 row gas isn't even close.

My car I ordered is a Limited Hybrid. The first thing I noticed at the Auto Show in LA was the seats do not lay flat like my 1997 Limited. A removable platform could be built. Or a third party company will come out with a fix to car camp inside the car. That was a ver dumb thing Toyota did with the new design. I have see videos of the third row seating and no adult can fit in the last row of seating only a small child. The 4Runner is not a good car for the extra third row seat.

I don't disagree. The 3rd row is exceedingly useless for seating most normal sized people. Just saying that the cards we've been dealt means that the relatively flat cargo surface might be a pretty big reason to go for the 3rd row - I value the Canada spec SR5 3rd row for that reason.

In all fairness, I don't recall a non-3 row 5th gen having a flat sleeping area either. Would have to add a tray or something to make a surface that is flush with the backs of the 2nd row seats.

There are sleeping platforms that some companies are already making for the 6th gen, I think I saw a pic on here a few weeks ago. Might have been for a gas 2 row though, can't remember.
