My TRD ORP was built in March, arrives to the Long Beach Port on 04/28 and was supposed to be delivered on 05/21. It was placed on the dang qc hold on 05/15 and arrived at the Denver Rail Yard on 06/12. I was informed by my salesman that it is showing on “inspection” at the rail yard with no eta. I’m in CO and only a couple hours from the Denver rail yard so this is very frustrating. The lack of communication from Toyota to the dealership and to me is frustrating. Does anyone know how long it should take to get from the rail yard to the dealership? What timeline am I expecting?

Anywhere from 4-7 days I’d say. Mine got to me in about that time.

Well apparently the status update my salesman read was incorrect. It “should” be on its way to or already at the Denver railhead yard but apparently it’s still in Long Beach. This is infuriating. Never buying a Toyota like this again.

lol maybe find a better dealer/sales person.

thats not a toyota issue thats a dealer training/sales person issue.

its not that freaking hard to pull up a status in dealerdaily. i know sales people dont usually have access to that screen but the sales managers do.

i usually go up the the sales manager desk once a month to ask for a status on mine. takes about 1-2 minutes to get an update then say thanks and chat up that i will be back next month for an update. he laughs and we go on our way.

Yeah I’m not impressed with my salesman. I have called around to multiple and I mean multiple dealerships in co, wy, nm, and ut. Unfortunately there is little to no movement. I am being particular about the orp in Everest so my choices are limited even more. This whole experience has been terrible and Toyota lack of communication has just made it even more aggravating.

This is a Toyota problem

They’re communicating little to none about the quality control hold

Quite a few are in the same situation
https://www.4runner6g.com/forum/threads/what-is-quality-hold-status.4111/
toyota has never communicated QC holds to any dealer in the past and the reason for a QC hold.

dealer is not part of the delivery process until it is dropped off by the transport carrier. the delivery process is owned by toyota logisitics services (TLS - https://pressroom.toyota.com/toyota-logistics-services-fact-sheet/ ) until it is unloaded by carrier transport.

all you get in dealerdaily status is QC hold and thats it.

That is all true and accurate. That doesn’t make it ok though. Toyota should do a better job of explaining the qc hold. We know it’s QC534-Air dam service/replacement. What Toyota can/should do is explain “a fix is in the works, parts are being ordered and installed by order of vehicles that first arrived” etc. that would assist with an understanding of what’s going on and possibly how long it will take.

I can say that QC Hold is usually confidential - I have friends on the other side, they say even internally when they order a company car if it's QC Hold the reason explanation isn't shared. But it's expected that they're pulling the car for a reason to make sure it doesn't get delivered with something faulty. I understand the reason for keeping it confidential but also it's frustrating to see no movement for a long time.

the sad part is toyota wont pass that info along. since its an internal QC hold (soft stop sale) and the duration is usually worst case its not good PR to pass that info along to dealers, which in turn gets to customers and turns them away.

i mean our 23 tundra when we reserved ours went thru a long process.

1. put in allocation reserve request in may-2022 for a 2022 tundra platinum crew cab non-hv 5.5ft bed
2. took so long to get an allocation, we had to re-submit our allocation reserve request for 2023 one in august-2022
3. allocation was finally picked up in oct-2022
4. notified that build date was initially 11-24-2022
5. build date pushed to 12-7-2022
6. actual duild date was 12-8-2022
7. on rail transport until 12-16-2022
8. put into QC hold as soon as it was unloaded on the railcar on 16-dec-2022 until 16-feb-2023 (was never told what it was, didnt really care since i was a member on tundras.com and could track it better than the dealer could anyway, but even then no one on the forums could find why the trucks were in QC hold during that time. some say it was the engine long block recall that affected it, never confirmed)
9. put on truck carrier and arrived at dealer on 21-feb-2023
10. drove off the lot 22-feb-2023

so in the grand scheme of things, this has been the way since way before 2020's. from my experience with our 2004 4R v8 and other toyota's not much has changed with how toyota updates and keeps customers informed about the whole build, ship, delivery process.

i mean i have paperwork and screenshots where i have documented the whole process with our 2018 and 2023 tundra, not much different now from what i can see with the 2025 4R from posts across the whole forum here in 6G

forgot to add, we didnt have an issue with the 10 month wait. we got our 2023 at invoice so it was worth the wait. $67,758 msrp and invoice was $62,750

i am getting my 2025 (26?) at invoice so the wait is not an issue for me.

also i put in my allocation reserve request in dec-2024, so i am going on 8 months + right now.

I’m in the same boat. I put my allocation request in on 12/12/24. My vehicle was built in March, arrived to the Long Beach port on 04/28 and placed on hold on 05/15. July 15 will be two months. I too am getting it at msrp and my dealerships accessories team is being great working with price mark downs etc. the wait and lack of communication is just frustrating.

yeah its frustrating on the keeping the customer informed but toyota usa really doesnt have a process in place like the big 3 on personal vehicle build.

toyota really doesnt have a build process in place since the way they build vehicles is not typical.

toyota builds vehicles to a program/process that is mostly numbers algorithm. and if a customer wants a specific model/trim/option load out, that customer has to wait until the computer generates that vehicle on the assembly line and then allocates that specific build to a dealer. you cant actually order a vehicle the way you want, you have to wait.

its both a good thing and bad thing.

good as you dont have a wildly varying combo to build all the time from a manufacturer's standpoint but bad for customer fulfillments.

bad as you have to wait and wait for it to be built, but good as you dont have the quality issues inherent like the big 3 where you can build the same vehicle 1000 different ways vs 100
