yeah its frustrating on the keeping the customer informed but toyota usa really doesnt have a process in place like the big 3 on personal vehicle build.

toyota really doesnt have a build process in place since the way they build vehicles is not typical.

toyota builds vehicles to a program/process that is mostly numbers algorithm. and if a customer wants a specific model/trim/option load out, that customer has to wait until the computer generates that vehicle on the assembly line and then allocates that specific build to a dealer. you cant actually order a vehicle the way you want, you have to wait.

its both a good thing and bad thing.

good as you dont have a wildly varying combo to build all the time from a manufacturer's standpoint but bad for customer fulfillments.

bad as you have to wait and wait for it to be built, but good as you dont have the quality issues inherent like the big 3 where you can build the same vehicle 1000 different ways vs 100
Oh I totally agree with you.
I’m just trying to keep faith that it’s Toyota and the quality is generally top tier and their vehicles are held up well. I’m really hoping this qc isn’t a sign of a lemon.

normally it isnt. just toyota wont sell a vehicle incomplete or with issues that have been identified before pushing it along to a dealer.

this was very evident during the chip shortage for all auto manufacturers.

where as the big 3 sold and then later told customers they would install or add the options at a later date, it really left a sour taste in customers when they had to wait 6-9 months or longer for them to add them after the sale. you paid for it but couldnt use it for up to a year? i personally as a customer wouldnt like that at all.

at least toyota had the right mind to not sell incomplete vehicles and a promise later.

the only exception to this rule was the key fob fiasco, i had to wait 9 months i think for a 2nd key fob on our 2023 tundra. that was a royal PR nightmare for toyota as people were really pissed about that.

Yeah I’m not impressed with my salesman. I have called around to multiple and I mean multiple dealerships in co, wy, nm, and ut. Unfortunately there is little to no movement. I am being particular about the orp in Everest so my choices are limited even more. This whole experience has been terrible and Toyota lack of communication has just made it even more aggravating.
I'm waiting on Everest TRD ORP with moon roof. My dealer contacted me they just received one over the weekend that's not spoken for with about $3500 more "options" aka bloat charging cables, cargo cover and things I had mostly removed from my allocated vehicle. Unfortunately I work nights and he texted two hours ago and now sold. Very disappointed in my experience as sales person has given zero updates I'm having to ask status every week and GM sales has refused to return my calls when salesperson has been on vacation.

Yeah unfortunately it’s a double edged kinda situation. Toyota makes reliable good vehicles that sell themselves. Salespersons, unless stellar, are pretty lazy and do the bare minimum. Mine has become that way. Not the first time I’ve used him to buy a vehicle but this experience has shown me that Toyota doesn’t have clear communication with dealerships and the sales teams just push product through when it arrives. They don’t do much else to be proactive and assist their customers. I’m not impressed.

That is all true and accurate. That doesn’t make it ok though. Toyota should do a better job of explaining the qc hold. We know it’s QC534-Air dam service/replacement. What Toyota can/should do is explain ā€œa fix is in the works, parts are being ordered and installed by order of vehicles that first arrivedā€ etc. that would assist with an understanding of what’s going on and possibly how long it will take.
So it is the Air Dam? I want to remove that anyway... I wish they would just make it an option. They can keep the dang thing. Just give me my 4runner lol.

I feel the exact same. But because the 4Runner was ā€œbuiltā€ with the air dam and designs have it, they have to sell it that way.

I’m in RI. Same date into port for me. Port processing is listed as today (6/28) from the dealer daily screenshot I received last week. ETA 7/1-7/8 for my Mudbath TRD Pro.

Any update on your delivery date?

I emailed by salesperson, but have not heard anything back yet.

it was due for port processing 6/28 and my dealership is closed Sundays. Hoping to hear in the next few days.
Just spoke to the dealer and they said the vehicle was in "processing" and gave me a new ETA window - 7/3/25 to 7/14/25.šŸ˜ŸšŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

I wonder if mine is in the same boat …. Mine was marked as sold so there is no way for me to track it myself anymore.

I’m not in a terrible rush so I’ll just wait it out. I’ll update when I receive some news!
