Thanks. I’m waiting on a platinum as well. Good luck as well.
yeah i look at my dealers website daily to see if an allocation for a platinum shows up. and everyday i get disappointed with it not showing up.

the dealer website mirrors the excel file sticky link in these forums so i just made a shortcut to the website with filters so it only shows hybrid 4runners.

I put a deposit mid-April. It’s been stuck at the port for just over a month now. I see a lot of comments about the air dam (which looks like garbage and I’m removing), but my dealer told me the QC delay was related to the tail lights. I’m extremely frustrated with this situation and thinking about buying something else next week if this doesn’t clear this week. I’ve had it and I’m disgusted because this was promised mid May- early June. Also, some of the video reviews online with error messages and glitches are making me wonder If I’m making the right choice. I had a 3rd generation for almost 20 years and loved it, but I’m getting more and more turned off with every day that passes with the QC hold. The 4 cylinder was also making me question this vehicle, it looks great but I’m starting to get second thoughts with this delay and what else could be wrong that the dealers aren’t telling us.
i was going to post up a long winded lol but meh deleted it.

good luck in finding something to satisfy that "i need something now" itch
again if your situation requires a vehicle now, a 4R is probably not the route to go or for that matter any 1st year new HIGH demand vehicle.
I think the problem is more with the lack of information and communication from Toyota.

I put a deposit down on 4R Limited FT4WD in white with brown interior on 3/3/25. I already knew that the 4R was in high demand and I would have to wait for delivery. All of March passes and dealer says they don't have an allocation. In April they call and say they don't have any allocations in the build I want but they do have a red 2WD Limited allocated to them but I said no thanks not what I want. The rest of April passes and nothing, May is going by and still nothing.

On May 28th I stopped by a Honda dealer to see the new Passport and was impressed. 1st dealer didn't have one in the colors I wanted and didn't have any allocated to them in that color combo so I went to another dealer. This one does have one allocated to them but it wasn't scheduled to be built until 6/25, another 30 days. So I put down a deposit for a Trailsport Elite (equivalent to a Limited 4R). Keep in mind these are also in high demand so I'm doubling down on buying a SUV in high demand.

I keep my deposit on the 4R in case something comes up since I'm 3 months into waiting and I might be waiting again for Honda like I am for Toyota. First come first sold I figure. I go to my Toyota dealer on 6/12 to have the oil changed on my Camry and also to talk with my salesman about the 4R. I explain that I've placed a deposit on a Passport with a build date in 2 weeks and if he couldn't at least tell me they had an allocation I wanted my deposit back. He gets with his manager and they say they can get me one by late August. However the price is about $3,500 more than what we originally projected and $10,000 more than the Passport. Part of the problem is GST putting $2,800 worth of accessories on it. I declined and they refunded me my deposit.

On 6/27 the Honda salesman called and said it was built, texted the VIN and said it should be delivered within 10 days. On 7/1 he called and said the truck just pulled up with my Passport on it and it would be ready for pick up on 7/3. The salesman explained that when a customer puts a deposit down, the dealer marks that allocation as pre-sold. This is information is uploaded to Honda and they prioritize your vehicle for delivery putting it ahead of dealer stock orders. Your car is loaded up for delivery on the first transport going to the port and again on the trucks from the port to the dealer.

So in my experience the overall experience with Toyota has been horrible. They're fine if you're buying off the lot but if you have to wait for one to be built good luck. Although Honda dealers are like Toyota where they can only take what's allocated to them, Honda's system allows dealers the ability to override the delivery process. By inputing the customer's information into Honda's allocation system they prioritize delivery to a customer over regular dealer stock orders.

People who have put money down should be the priority in the delivery process. They should ship first and even be expedited through the quality control inspection process. Toyota, it seems, has no differentiation between customer orders and dealer stock orders. They decide what cars are allocated to the dealers and delivered whenever they get there. This is probably why Toyota doesn't communicate why deliveries are delayed to dealers, to them it's all just dealer stock orders so no big deal if the delivery is delayed.

Thank you. I’ve been saying the same for so long, and all I get from most people on these forums is “It’s Toyota, if you don’t like it buy something else.” The die hard Toyota fan boys will make an excuse for anything defending Toyota.

I put money down (refundable thankfully) on a trd orp Everest 4Runner in Dec 24. Allocated in March, built in April, arrived at the Long Beach port on 04/28. Placed on qc hold on 05/15 and it’s still sitting at the port according to my dealership. Toyota won’t communicate anything besides the qc hold aspect to the dealerships so they are in the dark as much as us.

Talking with other brands, Honda included, they are blown away by Toyotas lack of communication and customer service. If I don’t plan on going off-roading like I do, I would go with the Honda passport. Heck I may still if this keeps up…

I guess I'm lucky that my off road needs is getting to my favorite fishing spots which is why I wanted a 4WD Limited instead of a TRD Off Road. If I needed something with more off road capabilities I don't know what I would do. Part of me is still disappointed because I've wanted a 4R since the 3rd generation.

Good luck.

Mine has been on hold in Newark since end of May and I have no confirmation of the hold lifted. I’ll call the dealer tomorrow.

No update from my dealer on my suv QC HOLD same shit. I went to another Toyota dealer and have gave them the vin number. They pulled the info and said based on experience that once these suvs get pulled for inspection it normally takes 60 days sometimes 90 days.

saw a really awesome Tacoma trd pro in the lot and am slightly tempted to make a change.

I’ve had 3 Tacomas and 2 Tundras over the years. Loved every one of them.
Never had a 4Runner, I hope I don’t miss the usability of a truck bed.

My 6G has been on QC hold since 5.15. Got to port in 5.17.25 and my sticker price SR5 was $44,878. Was called today with an eta to dealer of 7.20.25 and a new sticker price of $44,923. Told the dealer that difference they were going to eat since the hold was due to Toyota and some BS QC hold that went from 30 day to 42 day and a 56 day. So you may want to start checking for small to large price hikes. TRDJon just posted a video of price increases for freight and for building which started 7.1.25.

Then yours wasn
It would seem the west coast ports are still holding vehicles…
We have been in the same holding pattern with similar dates as you - and got an update early this week that our 4runner is finally railbound to the shipping yard (we're in MO, so our closest is KC). Ours sat in Portland since 5/14, went under QC hold 5/15 and was released Monday 6/30, with an ETA to the dealer 7/14-7/31. To our dealer's credit, we were told when we put the deposit down that the hold should be lifted 6/28.

I work nights, just woke up to message my car should arrive today. Rental car secured and will be in the road by 8p. Stupid dealership is closed July 4th. I have never! Lol okay. Good luck to us all waiting out new 4Runner
I'm in TN this morning, the car arrives 6p Eastern and I was on the road by 7p. I will arrive just after dealer opens.
My time line was deposit 4/1, Portland port arrival 4/28. On rail 5/2, expected 5/17, arrived to dealer in TN 7/2. Pick up 7/3.
