Looking to swap tires before an upcoming trip to Colorado. Planning to keep the 18" ORP wheels, but 265/70/18 is limited. Aiming for KO3 or AT4W.

On my 5th gen, I ran E-rated K02 285/7017 for over 60k miles. Never had an issues with the "stiff" ride. I then ran 2 more sets of C-rated KO2's to reduce tire weight, but can't say I ever really noticed a big difference other than the C-rated 285/70/17 wearing out by 50k or less with normal rotations. Also had a puncture flat on the c-rated.

So, who's running AT4W on the 18" ORP stock wheel. How does the e-rated sidewall feel?

Can't help you out on the AT4W, but I'm running the WildPeak R/To1 285/70/18 "E" Rated.
Ride is almost as good as the Toyo AT3 "C" Rated that came on it. Noise is minimal but I heard they do get louder with miles.

Had them aired down multiple times, they hold up well but still deform and grip nice off road.

Not running the Wildpeakes in e load extremely heavy. I’ll be running the Toyo OC AT3 in a 275/70/18. Having them installed in Thursday

I ran 275/70/18 E-load in the Falken Wildpeaks AT4s and the Yokohama Geolandars GO15s on a Tundra. They were very wobbly at 50 mph unless I ran a specific PSI due to ten ply sidewall. I ran 42 PSI (middle of the night cold after sitting for hours) Those tires have a max PSI of 80 so even with high heat they only expanded to 50 PSI. The thick sidewall is best for bumping curbs and rocks.

On my 25 4Runner I run the same Wildpeak in 275/70/17 in C load which is six ply. The PSI game is the opposite. I get absolutely zero wobble at 50 mph and run the tires at 32 PSI cold. As they expand in extreme heat they rise up to 37-38 PSI and still zero wobble, but the ride is perfect.

Just thought i would throw this info out there. Don't expect AT tires to give you a Cadillac ride especially as you go up in rim size and the height of the sidewall goes down.

On my Trailhunter I'm running.
18x9 Method MR701 BLK paint rims with
LT265/70R-18 BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 E load.
The combination is working out great. No shake or wobble at high speeds.
I've found that if I run at 33 PSI The ride is very reasonable and not harsh.

I am running Wildpeak AT4W tires in E rated size 275/70R18 and have about 7k miles on them. Several long road trips, many trails and no issues. Feels fine to me. Can't really comment on differences in tires as I put them on when I had like 100 miles on the 4runner and ran the same tire on my Tacoma before so it's kinda all I know.

Thanks for all the insight. I’ll continue to explore some other options that involve stepping down to a 17 inch wheel.

17" rim with taller sidewall tire definitely gives you more cush...

The 9" wide rim probably helps with the stability at high speeds and lower pressure.

Running E-load KO3s 275/70/18 - The ride is awful.. Especially on crappy roads with lots of little bumps. I've aired down to 33psi and the ride is slightly better, but it's still really stiff.
Wish I had tried to find a "C" load KO2 instead. Considered the SL load Nitto G3, but had really bad luck with the Nitto's on my previous TRD Pro. So, I'm a little jaded.

I personally find the 6th gen platform as a whole to be a bit rough and jarring on gravel and chip-seal roads. It's just not as smooth as the 5th gen was.

I'm also looking at the SL load Terra Grappler G3. No experience with Nitto and now you have me a bit concerned. The limited C rated options in 18" is frustrating at best. SL isn't strong enough, E rated is overkill for most scenarios.
