Went a little overboard this weekend picking up parts for our incoming 2025 4Runner ORP Hybrid. The last thing I need to lock in is the tires. I was originally planning to go with 275/70/18 Falken Wildpeak AT4Ws, but they only come in an E load rating—which feels like overkill since this will be my wife’s daily driver.

Now I’m torn between sticking with the factory size and going with the SL-rated 265/70/18 Wildpeaks, or stepping up to the Nitto Terra Grappler G3s in 275/70/18, which do come in an SL rating. These will be mounted on TRD Pro wheels (+20mm offset), so I also want to make sure the 275s don’t stick out past the fenders.

Any advice or photos from people running similar setups would be much appreciated. Thanks!

265 on those rims already stick out past the fenders a bit. I have them on 265

I just picked up my ORP Hybrid yesterday! Your ride will most likely come with Michelin LTX A/T 2 tires. The non hybrid 4Runner comes with Falken Wildpeak AT Trail tires. Are you trying to get the tire upgrade from the dealer? You can get SL's aftermarket at a tire store in the A/T4W, but it sounds like you may already know that. I am trying to decide if I will keep the Michelins for a while or upgrade now and maybe make a couple bucks on the Michelins while they're still new. I tow a trailer (but only about 4-5 times per year), so I am waffling between SL and E in the A/T4W.

Yeah, I swapped out the factory Michelins on day two of ownership. They looked too much like a street tire for my taste, so I ended up going with the Nitto Terra Grappler G3s in 265/70/18 with the SL rating. Everyone I talked to said the E load rating would make the ride too harsh, especially for daily driving. I’m really happy with the choice—rides great and looks much better too.

Such a great looking ride. I see you removed the air dam too. I did the same. Such a better look, and that thing will break eventually anyway. My only other consideration (in addition to tires) is swapping out the stock running boards for the TRD running boards. Those are super cool looking and less pronounced. They may be less functional though, especially for our wives.
