  1. Macan 4 EV is a Towing Beast!

Great report! As an aside, I too had a 981, but mostly I was choosing to drive my Cayenne GTS. I loved the 981, but the utility and driving position of the Cayenne was so much better. Now both those are gone, replaced by the Macan(s).
  2. 2025 Macan Charging Deep Dive

    https://evchargingstations.com/chargingnews/porsche-macan-electric-charging-analysis/?utm_source=x&utm_medium=social&utm_id=referral A charging deep dive.
  3. Which Car Brands Are Best

Lots of discussion in other threads about Porsche software issues, other brand’s pros and cons. I just wanted to raise this video (above) to the forefront once more. One of the key points they make is that if you really want the best chance of getting a trouble free vehicle, DO NOT buy the...
  4. Software letting the brand down

My wife’s Macan dropped the phone from the hotspot (or vice versa). I went to troubleshoot. My phone connects seamlessly. So it is not the Macan. My wife has an older iPhone 15, and I have a 17 Pro. I asked AI, and it steered me to toggling airplane mode, restarting, etc. AI also indicated...
  5. Electric Charge Ports Won’t Open

The yellow alert, “charging port impaired” looks ominous, but I have found it will pop up if the powered door tries to close and is blocked, even when it closes properly on the second attempt. Maybe it will pop up in more serious situations as well, but in this case it is trivial and eventually...
  6. Macan EV door closing is really poor

Sorry to inform that thermal glass makes no difference in the way the door closes. Still not great. The one thing I really miss in the Macan? An option for soft close doors.
  7. 2,5k km road trip from PL to NO

From my perspective, there are more than enough high speed chargers in this area, especially along major highways. In the past, I’ve used the EA chargers along I-10, through Texas, New Mexico and Arizona (in an Audi EV with less than 200 miles range, and relying only on EA). I’ve never...
  8. 2,5k km road trip from PL to NO

The infrastructure is more than adequate in New Mexico and surrounding states, and has only become better with Tesla stations. Fear of traveling causes self-limiting behavior, but it can be overcome by having a plan and conducting purposeful, incrementally longer trips to build confidence. In...
  9. Software update

I had an Audi E-tron before the Macan. Audi made no attempt to update software. Given that they discontinued the vehicle, that now should not have been surprising to me. I learned that Tesla-style updates weren’t the norm. So I didn’t expect Porsche to update as frequently as Tesla, but I...
  10. Which Car Brands Are Best

I think they mostly use owner surveys. Both JD Power and CR publish their data collection methodologies and criteria.
  11. Best tyres for wear (comp)

Beyond how we drive, the biggest determinant of tread life will be whether we choose summer tires or all season tires. Tread wear ratings show that all season tires generally should last 2x the summer tires, regardless of brand.
  12. Which Car Brands Are Best

This is one, informed opinion. JD Power also just came out with their 2026 (somewhat different) brand reliability rankings. And Consumer Reports has yet a different ranking of brands. Two common threads in all these: (1) the first year, or two, of a new model of any brand will be more...
  13. TRIP STATUS- and range issues

Scottsdale is my home dealer. Top tier service and capabilities IMO. I did this route last summer, Phoenix to Telluride. There are EA chargers in Flagstaff, Winslow, Gallup and Tesla in Cortez. It should be an easy trip, if the vehicle is giving you near-full range (with roof box). Going...
  14. Change items in Quick Access

Quick Access is a feature I rarely use, but should use more. Same with voice commands. It just is a matter of establishing the habit.
  15. Best tyres for wear (comp)

Early December ‘24 delivery Macan 4, Pirelli 20”, 18,200 miles, with still about 1 mm remaining above the rear tire wear bars (1.6 + 1 = 2.6 mm remaining). Most of my starts from stop are adequately aggressive, but also lots of highway driving. But, a counter-point: Early June ‘25 Macan 4...
