I had the software update done yesterday. The Macan was there for one day (with it also receiving a minor wheel repair), and so the update seems like it was a non-event for the technician. Scottsdale dealership is first class. Driving home, no issues, didn’t notice any big changes. Charging...
In a recent “race” on the US East Coast, Out of Spec ran several three-row EV’s from Maine to Florida (No Porsche). What stood out for me was that there were software-related issues with many of these vehicles. One Lucid wouldn’t shift into “drive” until they shook the key fob, and even that...
Pedantic response here. Yes, I was simplifying the whole discussion of energy expenditure by focusing only on aerodynamic drag. I knew about rolling resistance, but thought it was trivial in relationship to aerodynamic drag (turns out, not so). I believed that rolling resistance changes...
In the comments on the State of Charge YouTube video, I posted:
”It’s physics. The drag force is the square of velocity, all else being equal. So take the ratio of the increase in speed, 80/70 =1.1429. And square it, 1.1429 x 1.1429 =1.306. So 345 miles (@70) theoretically should give...
Certainly the issues shared by the OP are concerning. That stated, I have a couple of observations beyond those already shared. First, problems with one vehicle or dealer don’t necessarily mean the fleet or dealership network is trash. One vehicle is merely anecdotal; I have two Macans and...
In the US the EVSE supply wire is eight gauge (copper) if using a 40 amp breaker, and six gauge (thicker) in higher amperage circuits. Maybe Porsche looked at the 40 amp circuit as “standard” in NA and limited to this. Installing six gauge wire is a pain (I can attest to how stiff it is)...
I realize how incongruous it is for me to talk about loving EV’s because they save operating costs, in light of the fact that they have huge acquisition costs. Irrational, but rationality also would mean driving Toyotas, not Porsche’s.
The visits to the dealer should be less frequent if stuff...
I would never go back to an ICE or hybrid. One, I think long term maintenance on the EV will be vastly better (fewer dealer visits, lower cost). Two, I pay nothing to charge at home (excess solar production). I particularly don’t want a hybrid with two power systems to maintain, although I...
I want to correct this: I didn’t order the Burmester. I had Burmester in my previous Cayenne GTS and the Bose in my Cayman S. I’m not an audiophile and so, while I ordered most other options, I went with Bose for sound.
I posted this in another thread a year ago: On my first long drive back...
I drove both at the LA PEC at my 4 delivery. While I’m a longtime owner of various sports cars, I’m certainly no pro driver. That said, the Turbo Macan on the track was a beast IMO, and maybe the Taycan was better, but only marginally. The big turn-off for me is getting in and out of the Taycan...
I have a highly optioned 4 (well, 2: one ordered new and one CPO). I use Innodrive regularly on the highway drives. I have the insulated glass and it is mandatory IMO for a sunny /hot climate where I live. my wife also has a 4 without it; after-market tint helps, but I can feel the heat...
Just a data point on wheels. I have two Macan 4, one on 20 inch aero wheels and one on 22 inch Macan Sport Wheels. With the 20 inch, over 15,000 miles, I have seen 3.1 miles / kWh. With the 22, over 6,000 miles, it is 3.2 miles / kWh. I drive the former, occasionally with a bike rack. My...
You may already have discovered this, but if you tap on the tile in the upper right corner of the nav screen (with a destination previously entered), an expanded route screen opens. I think this is what you’re looking for: more route information, including intermediate stops, states of charge...
Yep, shows 108 kWh in the Porsche app as well. 🤣. I will call.
oh, and the time was 36 minutes. It was charging at about 175 kW during this time, which works out to be 105kWh. So either the software was completely bogus in its display of the data, or the energy was provided and went…where?
