You are complaining about a labeling discrepancy between 9.6kW and 11kW, not 40A and 48A, which appears nowhere in the specs. 11kW would also be 46A, not 48. You're engaging in the same obfuscation you're accusing Porsche of doing, except that you're plainly doing it intentionally, since you can...
No one has said otherwise.
There are 3.8kW, 6kW, 7.6kW, 9.6kW, 11.5kW, 15.4kW, and 19.2kW L2 service options in the US. But "11kW" is not one of them, falling between 9.6 and 11.5. Outside the US, 11kW is a possible 3-phase charging speed.
So if you see 11kW, you have to make one of 3...
Citing yourself as evidence hardly improves your argument.
In exactly the same way the Macan has an 11kW onboard charger, yes.
Here are your clues:
Porsche has consistently published L2 charge time in the US using 9.6kW as the assumed charging speed, not 11kW.
Plugging a Tesla or other actual...
Taycans without the 19.2kW/22kW charger upgrade are rated to charge at 9.6kW (40A @ 240V), just like a Macan. I've seen Taycans hit slightly above 10kW, especially early models before the software update, but no Taycan out there is getting the sustained 11.5kW that a 48A OBC would provide...
Incorrect. The digital key infrastructure is not duplicative of any of the UWB protocol except the actual code transmission. There is dedicated infrastructure required on top of what already exists.
Again, incorrect. You don't need an internet connection to use the digital key, but you most...
Compensate for what? Worst case scenario, you overpaid by $50 installing a 48A charger instead of a 40A one.
It is 100% true that you assumed 11kW = 48A. There was never a specification that 11kW was possible on single-phase power or that the onboard charger was capable of 48A. The OBC is...
Not technologically. Adding CarPlay entirely would be a major change. Allowing the transmission layer to move from USB to wireless is just a matter of improving connection stability of the network stack so it can pass a Bluetooth connection to wifi without dropping too many packets.
It's just a...
The poll options here are not ever going to resolve the issue.
11kW charging requires either three-phase power at 40A, which is uncommon in the US, or a 48A+ OBC. I don't recall ever seeing a 48A charging spec advertised on the Macan. That would be especially weird given that the 11kW AC charge...
That's exactly what I mean: those (and the Mini list posted above) are bug fix updates and minor tweaks. The biggest for Volvo, the digital key, wasn't even a new feature--it was promised in the specs but just not delivered at launch because the software was so bad. Volvo, like basically...
Lots of cars support OTA updates. Almost none of them have received additional features rather than minor patches or delayed features.
I’m not sure where you’re getting the idea that “OTA updates” means “post-purchase upgrades”.
The Taycan hasn’t had much. Other VW group products haven’t...
I don't really understand this. Almost all cars get refreshed and minor feature upgrades in mid-cycle refreshes. It's always been the case that early adopters trade being first for missing out on some future goodies.
That being said, the article is flatly wrong on the "none" part, as Porsche...
Dear god, please no. The sum total of absolute nonsense on this topic is really too much.
Yes, every Macan with Comfort Access has the required hardware. There is no such thing as "non-compliant UWB hardware" available on the market for Porsche to put in, no matter what people may choose to...
The required hardware for Porsche Digital Key is the UWB Comfort Access package (4E6), which is the same as it was in 2024 and 2025. It is now standard equipment rather than optional, however (at least in the US).
In the US, Digital Key is a $280 option on its own but 3D Surround + Digital Key is a bundle option, so of course the standalone one would get deactivated or you'd be double-charged. Guessing Canada just hasn't updated the labeling to match.
Retooling is not the model year changeover. Retooling is only required between generations when the actual tools and dies need to change.
The annual shutdown is just cleaning, recalibrating the robots, routine maintenance, replacing worn parts, inspections. This happens even if there are no...
Seems to be the "bespoke" options that you can customize what the door sills say, just like the existing option you could order on the front headrests. If there's a new door light option, I can't find it. The door sill option is illuminated, so maybe it's all referring to that.
There is no need to release a software update to dealers for cars that are just entering production, so if week 36 does have an update release, it would be for 2024-2025 models.
It would also align to all the software development work the team has done in the past year since the last major...
