I have the same exact expirience, first Gen taycan/audi charging at 48amp while second gen base/turbo s gen 2 and Macan EV charging at 40amps.
The specs for the US are simply wrong and PCNA is silent about it.
I finally got my car back after over a month at service, the HVC module had to be replaced and reset along with reprograming stuff including the keys...

I currently have 2 J1.2 taycans and they both can pull only 40amps while my older taycans and Audi RS Etron GT pulled for full 48amps.
Most of the EA sites at the bay area has this limit now, it actually helps with the lines, these stations are still very busy compared to any other network because of the free charging programs that Porsche/Audi/VW/BMW/Mercedes/Hyundai/Lucid has or still have given with a new car purchase.

Update on my car - the dealer tried to upgrade to the latest software version that is supposed to fix the issue that was failing the upgrade and it’s still failing… they will escalate to Porsche Engineering… anyone else is experiencing that?
My advisor just told me the software was suspended as well and they are working on installing an updated software (not sure what's the version number)

After the dealer had the car for 2 days, it seems that the HV Control module is having issues with the update, so they are ordering the part and will try again after replacing it..

you can use supercharger.info for the exact numbers, it cannot show it by stall numbers but the total sites number in the US is about 2850 and the number of them that are open to NACS compatible vehicles is at the low 1900s..
EA currently has over 1000 sites.
The most silly thing with these Tesla charging stations is that the only 800v station in Redwood City is not open to non teslas, or at least not to Porsche...
Slso all the early superchargers (v1-v2) are not open, i know at least 3 stations that are not on the Porsche/"non tesla ev in the tesla...

I just upgraded my IPhone 16 Pro to iOS 26 and now the CarPlay works but when using Apple Maps navigation it doesn’t sync with the HUD/right gauge on the driver dash does not point for directions anymore… used to work with the previous iOS..
