Interesting - i had the same one (Audi rebrand) on petrol car.
I opted for Blackvue one this time and have a backup battery unit to power when parked so it doesn't drain the 12v (I only use car occasionally). I've also got a sim card in the dashcam so can view remotely.
Thanks mate!
Porsche couldn't explain the differences and told me only porsche dealers could do it.
Trackerfit said this is not true and installed in lots of Porsches and NEVER had warranty issue as it's only because the exclusive factory install agreement they had on UK cars for Taycan ended...
So i could have waited for this and had one on "order" for April.
But i just couldn't get over the looks and the interior when i sat in a demo. Ride wasn't that great either and i just didn't like it.
The only selling point was range but i'd rather stop and charge than own this car.
Yes, i know this from my Taycan (i had this for one year when i got the car).
I was told the + is a fake industry term and S5 is the recognised category. It's unclear to me if + means two ADR cards as the description doesn't state how many cards you get.
However the PVTS and PVTS+ has a main...
Yes one is VTS without the immobiliser and the other is VTS+
I need to confirm it's the correct one and then work out if it keeps the warranty and if it's the same functionality.
I think the immobiliser only can be done on the next switch on - perhaps by which time the unit might be removed...
So i managed to speak to Porsche and to a few tracker companies.
It seems Porsche only really like the Vodafone s5 tracker.
However, i have found a place that will do the same porsche tracker for £350 installed and £165 a year or £430 for 3 years.
The app is now seperate to the Porsche...
Think the price varies. My local dealer wants a lot more as they don't really want to do the works. I also didn't buy the car from them which doesn't help.
I'd really rather they had a better security option that allows a pin to start option on the actual PCM !
I wouldn't be surprised if it is the same one but just with Porsche markup.
Cost to install is £350 with £159 a year subscription...
Porsche charge £750 plus £269 p.a
Big difference.
hmm. I've cancelled the install now of the Ghost III as i don't want it to affect my warranty.
I've asked for a call back from Porsche as i've seen this one :
https://www.trackerfit.co.uk/manufacturer-recommended/porsche-trackers/vodafone-protect-connect-s7-tracker.html
Says porsche...
yes i know - the PVTS+ is S5 level but it's quite expensive still at £750 + £289pa
The fact the porsche app is a bit flaky doesn't help and this one comes with a seperate app with it's own map backed by vodafone.
Incidently, i'm waiting a callback from this company
https://www.trackerfit.co.uk/brands/vodafone-automotive-cobratrak/vodafone-protect-connect-s7-tracker.html
Install of £200 and then a three year subscription at £268 means it's broadly the same. If i can find a way to use an app rather than...
Did look into this - i'm leaning towards Ghost III (the II is not compatible with Q6/Macan architecture) as i got a deal of £400 for install and NO ongoing costs. the car will just not start unless you unlock with the secret pin or with the mobile app.
There is a FOB also but my worry is that...
Bit late to this - got my macan last month to replace my stolen Taycan...
Getting the newly launched "Ghost III" immobilser installed next week which is apparently compatible on the car.
Have read about people saying it might invalidate the warranty but losing the car is more of a risk to...
Got mine installed - I previously had the DR900x on my Taycan but wanted the LTE.... so i went for the DR750x LTE as i got a great deal on a used one with a couple of the backup batteries to record while i'm parked. I can always upgrade to the DR970 LTE without rewiring.
I couldn't get an...
Out of interest where did you get the installation done ? Mind sharing as i'm looking for the same. The company that did my Taycan is in E london so a bit of a trek!
