Reality in cold. Driving to north with spikes and roofbox. Next morning range 384km.....

I would like to have a range at 100% of 500 km+. My reasoning is that when on a long road trip I will normally use the range between 10-15% and charge up to 80%. The charging curve over 80% falls very rapidly and takes forever. That will mean I use about 70% of the battery in practice (except...

The charging battle btw Big Brother 800V and little Sister 12V

Now I do not have a Macan yet, but have a Taycan. I have had 12 volt trouble there as well when leaving the car at the airport. It had drained the 12 volt battery while we were away on holiday. For a number of reasons the period got extended to more than 8 weeks and the battery was disconnected...

The charging battle btw Big Brother 800V and little Sister 12V

If the Suncoast battery is the correct one, it has a capacity of 62 Ah. That is quite lot for an EV I think. There is no starter motor to pull. Just normal supply for lights, fans, pumps etc. From you graph you seem to have a high draw on the battery constantly. That does not look normal. Could...

The charging battle btw Big Brother 800V and little Sister 12V

I am no expert on this, but looking at the website you indicated and chosen a Macan Electric, that part will not fiT.?? It looks like a normal lead acid type of battery though. Could that battery fit to an ICE Macan? Surely there has to be some information about the battery in one of the...

The charging battle btw Big Brother 800V and little Sister 12V

Do you know what type of battery is installed in the Macan?? Is it a lead acid type or Lithium type? LiFePO4 like in the Taycan? In one of the posts here it was stated that the voltage would be 14 -15 volt when driving, and that would be too high for a lead acid battery? From that value it...

01/25 Macan EV Official Reveal (per Porsche.com)! + Interior Photos!

After all the issues with a first generation Taycan , I think I will stand back for a while. I do not fell like jumping from the ashes into the fire.

Spotted Macan EV in the wild!

If you remember Rimac looked at having a two speed gearbox in their Nevera car. They then delayed the cars introduction and developed the car without that 2 speed gearbox. And that was in 2020. Porsche has huge development cooperation with Rimac and own part of it...

    2024 Macan EV interior revealed + more specs! 600hp / 737 lb-ft, 300+ Miles Range

Definetly in Europe! But I guess that is the initial system in the US as well.

    2024 Macan EV interior revealed + more specs! 600hp / 737 lb-ft, 300+ Miles Range

That is what it is stated. But not sure the present PCM runs on Android. Thought that was a home cooked one.

First videos of upcoming Macan EV

I think Porsche has listened a lot to the research that Rimac did in their development for their latest car. They considered a gearbox initially but scraped that idea once they developed the car. And Porsche has a lot of co operation with Rimac.

Michelin Pilot Sport EV has got NE0 type approval (for Macan EV)

No Porsche shops will only supply and fit NF0 tyres I believe. My service guy certainly said so. You are correct that the Ceramic discs are very sensitive to any knocks and that could result in an expensive repair bill. So I don’t think you are over sensitive at all I do not have the Ceramic...

Michelin Pilot Sport EV has got NE0 type approval (for Macan EV)

I can certainly recommend the GoodYear F1 Assymetric 5! My experience with Good Year many years ago was also quite negative. So I was not thrilled when my car was delivered with these tyres, but said I would wear them out and change brand. I was in for a surprise and have now reevaluated the...

Politics at the top in VAG

I am surprised that Diess is staying in the role. He is a marionette now. The Unions did not like the message, but that will not change the future. Once Tesla gets their factory in Berlin going it will be brutal for VW and others. Anybody that needs three times the hours to produce one car is...

    Aston Martin

I have a DB9 Volante (cabriolet). V12 naturally aspirated with a gorgeous sound from the exhaust. It is from 2010 so it does need some time to wake up before starting it, else the drivers display can light up like a Christmas tree. :). Paintwork is fantastic with no Orange peel in sight. And...

Tesla Model S Plaid catches fire

That sounds incorrect. As stated above Model3, Y and now S have a mechanical door opener, but looks like that only is for the front doors. I would think that the Plaid that caught fire used that lever.

    A thought about Porsche pricing

Will the service pack really be mandatory? Nothing like that to my knowledge in France. I Might be stung for more if the car ever needs a service?
